Israel will launch an attack on Irans nuclear facilities on its own if the rest of the world does not take action, said Bruce Riedel, a former CIA official and senior adviser to three presidents, including George W. Bush.
...
Israel is not going to allow its nuclear monopoly to be threatened.
Ironically, Riedel said the release of the National Intelligence Estimate report, which asserted that Iran halted its nuclear weapons program in 2003, made an Israeli attack even more likely, because it could make other nations reluctant to impose stricter sanctions on the Islamic Republic.
In the international scene, Russias decision to renew fuel shipments to Irans main nuclear facility at Bushehr was interpreted by many analysts as stemming directly from the NIEs publication, the Jerusalem Post reported.
Another development possibly stemming from the report is Russia and Chinas hardened position on further sanctions against Tehran.
Some American experts are skeptical of Israels ability to tackle Iran alone. But David Alright of the Institute for Science and International Security in Washington told Newsweek that Israels air strike on an alleged Syrian nuclear facility in September could be seen as a test run for a future attack on Irans facilities as well as a warning to Tehran.

A one-off mission like Osirak won't do it.
I will admit that I’m not very familiar with Israel’s military capabilities so I can’t speak to how many targets they can take out in what time frame they can do it but I can speculate that they have pretty much what we have, just not the quantity.
However, Israel does not need to take out all 1200 targets. They can pick and choose and I can speculate that they can take out quite a few of them.
The President doesn’t run Iran, the mullahs do.
It seems that much of our present strategy and policy was adopted after Israel did it alone. The whole concept of War on Terrorism originated in Israeli actions long before we were forced to undertake it by finally having to face the attacks that by then had been going on for over a decade. This is so even though Israel has never apologized for its attack on us.
Good point. Take them out.

Ahhh you are singin' our song.
Sorry to say,but in this case Republican in the White House not any better.
Nutjob is not the primary problem. He is fronting the mullahs and is replaceable.
Israel completely defeated Syria’s air defenses in October.....flew in, destroyed a nuclear facility....and left.
That demonstrated an incredible level of finesse.
I’m sure they can do it again.

God save the Republic.
Something I never thought of until now is how they can modify their tankers to drop laser guided or gps guided weapons. Kind of makes sense. They’ll have to fight in/out against an air threat so they need gas for the fighters, and based on what they did in Syria it looks like they can jam the latest and greatest ground threats off the air.
Before you laugh out loud, I never thought I would see a B52 or B1 doing Close Air Support with PGMs. I’ve seen it first hand and it works. Loading up JDAMs or GBU-24s on a tanker would actually not be that difficult or different than plinking GBU12s off of a B52. You saw it here first if it goes down that way! If not, you can forget I wrote this or credit it to someone you don’t like.
Yes and that is the key to victory. All that has to happen is that the corrupt and greedy mullahs push aside the suicidal fanatical mullahs. That does not sound like that big a stretch to me.
Go ahead, Israel, do whatever you need to do. You have the support of a huge part of the American people. We will get your back on the internet; other than that, theres not much we can do but send you lots of pizzas and burgers. Better do it before there is a Democrat in the WH.”

Sigh....true.
Musta forgot about Israels nuke-tipped Jericho-II's. And if Israel feels that it has to go-it-alone, what's the line on Tehran, Damascus, Riyadh, Mecca, Medina, and maybe Cairo? What-the-hell, toss in Islamabad, too! If Israel has to go alone, I'd bet on them to play to win.
Which is why the USA and President Bush must eliminate the Iranian threat before the 2008 election. A plus is that the defeatocRATS wouldn't stand a chance after we whacked Iran. Americans love a winner, not a whiner .................... FRegards
I am not following you. Are you suggesting Israel premptively launch nukes against Iran, Eqypt and Saudia Arabia? Is that what you are saying?
What I'm saying is that if the USA does not stop Iran from building a Nuclear Arsenal, then, Israel may well decide to launch a pre-emptive strike against Iran.
Logistically, Israel would be hard-pressed to strike Iran with aircraft and conventional weapons. The sheer quantity of targets, aircraft and munitions needed, and lack of Air Supremacy, virtually preclude a successful removal of the Iranian nuke assets. And Iran must be stopped cold! Halfway won't cut it.
If the USA abandons Israel to its own devices, they could either use-up part of their Air assets in a strike at Iran, then face the rest of the arab-world with what they have left.
Or they can smack Iran as much as they feel is needed with nukes, possibly making a mess out of Irans oil-fields, but preserving their own Air Forces. Then they'd be in the same place the USA was in after Hiroshima, but before Nagasaki in 1945. Why sacrifice another single Israeli life for these murderous bastards?
The latest NIE Report is pure-political-bull$hit. Israeli Intel is the best available in the Middle East, and they'll let the USA know when action is necessary. I'm confident that President Bush will drop the hammer on Iran before the 2008 election, probably after the primaries when the dimocRATs have hardened their anti-war, anti-American positions ............. FRegards
