I knew I liked your cat even if I wasn't looking at an actual picture of it.

Did he mention that red is positive and black is negative?
The cat I don't have just reminded me about that.

I actually had to read the article just to make sure this wasn’t a joke and I still can’t believe it.

What is being described here is punishment shock as an adversion therapy.

So, what they were "averting" them to was either sleeping; or, being awakened in the middle of the night?

Wouldn't the "therapy" have to occur in close temporal proximity to the behavior that offended?

Rob Santana awoke terrified. He'd had that dream again, the one where silver wires ran under his shirt and into his pants, connecting to electrodes attached to his limbs and torso. Adults armed with surveillance cameras and remote-control activators watched his every move. One press of a button, and there was no telling where the shock would hit—his arm or leg or, worse, his stomach. All Rob knew was that the pain would be intense.

Definitely not ECT therapy.

NEWS: Eight states are sending autistic, mentally retarded, and emotionally troubled kids to a facility that punishes them with painful electric shocks. How many times do you have to zap a child before it's torture?

Once on a terrorist is torture.
77 times for a school kid? Not so much. /s

Electroshock should have gone the way of lobotomies-on-demand (of the state/parents), but is alive and well in Mass.

“What a Country” doesn’t have much ring at all to it any more.

The report says the caller was a former resident of the center with knowledge of the staff, residents and layout of the Stoughton home. Police are looking into filing criminal charges.

The staffers were described as concerned and reluctant about the orders, but failed to verify them with the central office or check treatment plans to make sure the teens could receive that level of shock therapy, the report said.

The incident in Stoughton renewed calls by school critics for the state to ban the shock treatments. But state officials said the parents of some residents defend the school and its methods.

It seems the former resident knew exactly how easy it would be to get the staff to do this. If they file charges on this guy then the police deserve a few rounds with a fence charger.

And the “best” part....after having read about this, the vast majority of parents sending children to this school will send them back. After all, theirs is a “good” government school. Much the same way that the parents who read about their high school principal being indicted for child porn will send their kids back to their “good” government school.

The lure of subsidized day care is a very powerful attractant.

OH NOEZ!

The terrorists at Gitmo can't be shocked -- they're not American citizens, so that would be WRONG! The students in the schools are Americans, so they can be shocked with impunity. /sarc

You needn't take it any further, sir. You've proved to me that all this ultra-violence and killing is wrong and terribly wrong. I've learned my lesson, sir. I see now what I've never seen before I'm cured, praise Bog!

Water boarding is a horrible horrible unspeakable inhumane crime and anyone even thinking about it would be drawn, quartered and sold for fertilizer to a lettuce farm in S. Cal, according to the PC morons.

But shock treatments are ok, sez the town that gave us fisting classes.

UNFREAKING BELIEVABLE
