MOST DEFINING POLITICAL MOMENT OF 2007 (your nominations posted here)

Posted on 12/24/2007 5:27:58 AM PST by Liz

No question: Hillary flubbing the debate question on licensing illegals was a pivotal moment. Hillary started sinking fast when she enthusiastically walked right into the quicksand---by stupidly endorsing licensing illegals---the cockamamie plan dreamed up by NY Gov Spitzer.

The illegals question posed by Tim Russert at the Philly debate did what no other question could have done——it destroyed Hill's credibility, sank her poll numbers, destroyed her front-runner status, and demolished her “inevitability” factor. Can’t ask for more than that.

Clinton wanted to suckup to illegals to avoid offending Hispanics and came out in favor of licensing illegals---an issue fully 80% of Americans from all segments of the political spectrum oppose. She later realized her general-election vulnerability, reversed course again and opposed them outright. She has taken 5-6 positions on the issue, to date, and her last word on whether she supports licensing was a one word answer: "No."

To complicate matters, Hillary has top-loaded her campaign with latinos. Besides co-chair LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Hill's "Hispanic advisor" is Raul Humberto Yzaguirre, ex-director/founder of the radical, racist La Raza.

Gotta wonder what the quid pro quo is here: Is Hillary planning to turnover the SW to Mexico? Maybe ban guns and legalize machetes? Give free US drivers' licenses to all of Mexico? The possibilities for Hill's hyphenate-Hispandering are endless.

I hope Tim Russert gets to ask Hillary a few more tough questions.

The great grass-roots uprising against illegal alien amnesty. It derailed (at least temporarily) John McCain’s presidential bid and stunned the Washington/Drive-By Media Axis. It was a seminal shift in power.

Proof that the debates are important and for good or for bad, participating in them does count.

Hillary started sinking fast when she enthusiastically walked right into the quicksand---by stupidly endorsing licensing illegals-

The weird thing is her vote share transferred to Obama who also favors licensing illegals.

You cannot beat RATS for stupidity.

Pelosi's losing effort to make Murtha Majority Speaker.

Things went quickly downhill for Dems in the House.

The defining political moment was when Hillary and all the Dems in Congress came out against General Patraeus with that ad in New York and in Congress after having demanded that he be brought into the Iraq war situation and then slamming the General’s strategy - and the General himself - BEFORE it had been shown to be as successful as it has been.

(Re: the people in Hillary’s campaign. The explanation of course is that she wants very much - and will get - the ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT vote!!! by the thousands...the main reason she is so confident she will win)

Kerik getting indicted, and the NY Times article (whether true or not) about the NYPD being used as a taxi service for Rudy’s then-mistress.

Good one, very good. And we can thank Rush Limbaugh for that one. For it was Limbaugh’s challenge to Russert that spawned that question.

When Rudy took the cell phone call from his wife while making a speech to an NRA crowd may not be at the top, but it is up there.

"No, you have 30 seconds."

"Then I'm not going to answer it."

Nothing else would matter if Iraq were going badly. The most important moment was when Bush decided to go with Petraeus and the General’s counterinsurgency strategy/surge.

The illegal question which Hillary fumbled.

Giuliani’s use of taxpayer dollars for his mistress and his friend Kerik indicted.

Attack on Gen Patreaus by move-on which backfired and hurt anti-war sentiment.

Mccain fumbling of immigration reform and hence sinking of his campaign from front runner status.

The defeat of the Amnestity Bill was the was the political moment of the decade. An issue that had been suppressed by the Elites of DC and MSM was thrust into the center of political debate. Even Hillary fell victim and the democrat will again in the Presidential debates. (if the MSM ever asks a question again on illegal immigration).

Hillary's "I want to take those profits..." speech was, by far, her most defining moment.
