High noon in the living room

Another no-knock warrant success story It was just after midnight on Dec. 16, and Yee Moua was unwinding in her spartan north Minneapolis home, watching TV. Such moments of solitude are hard to come by when you're trying to raise six children in a crime-plagued neighborhood. Her husband, who had recently lost his job as a machine operator, and their kids were asleep.

So when one of her windows shattered, she knew it wasn't an accident. There were voices. Men were breaking into their home.

She ran upstairs. Vang Khang had already removed his shotgun from a closet and was ready to defend his family and property. They heard footsteps on the stairs.

Mr. Khang fired three blasts through his door. More than 20 shots came back at them through the walls.

Calling the police on this night would have done Ms. Moua and Mr. Khang no good. They were already there.

Whoever got the wrong address here really should do some jail time. There is really no excuse for these sort of things.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the WOD is also funding some of the black thugs of late who have been administering beatings to white passengers on public transportation.

ALL break ins may be met with lethal force.
No exceptions for LEOs.

This is a public announcement.
Risking your life on the basis of shaky court rulings is your choice.
Defending my home and family is my right and duty bad laws notwithstanding.

“It makes for a livelier neighborhood and gets everyone involved.”

Yeah, that’d be a good way to put an end to this crap. Those deaths/injuries would also be the cops’ fault.

No knock searches and the advent of these storm trooper tactics has everything to do with the war on drugs.

Gangbanger with guns in the house, okay that justifies a SWAT assault? At least half the households in America have a gun in the house. We celebrate that around here usually. No knock raids create violence, when people shoot back, because they are terrified. No knock raids came about, because of the war on drugs. Police would knock on the door, perps would flush their stash down the toilet destroying the evidence. Therefore, the police want to do no knock raids. 20 years later, here we are with no knock, SWAT team raids, because a guy is allegedly hitting his girlfriend (who's probably a psycho, see above).

That is my case for the origin of no knock raids.

This had nothing whatsoever to do with drugs.

Sure it did, the WOD enabled this and emboldened the actors (and it is theatre).

Team retreats. No one killed, cops embarrassed.

Gasoline then treated the same as cold medication.

These people never quit.

They will be harrassed from now on so long as they reside in the same jurisdiction. I expect the adults to get at least tazed at trafic stops for having a taillight that is not quite the exact shade of red required. They very much need to find another place to live, preferably in another state.

Yes it did. It is the”Drug War” that spawned the need for SWAT teams in every jurisdiction and gave the police the excuse for slipshod raids on wrong addresses. Sometimes I think they just chalk it up to “practice.” I am sure the police chief has reamed these guys for being shot at and not managing to kill everyone in the house with their copious return fire. It’s like the homeowner making sure the dead burglar is inside the window-CYA. If you make a bad raid it is best to not leave any witnesses. Lawsuits happen. If they are dead then you claim it was a drug house and, of course, produce the crack or whatever that you brought along.

Two policemen were saved by bulletproof vests and helmets, and Mr. Khang, Ms. Moua and their children, possessing no body armor, happened to be curled in the right places to avoid the return gunfire.

What happened to the part about heroic cops shielding the children?

From the Dec. 16 Star-Tribune:

[police spokeswoman] Garcia told KMSP that police grabbed the family's children and shielded them during the incident.

Love the warning, but that would only guarantee an incendiary “tear gas” grenade coming through the window and aimed fire taking you down as you try to escape the “accidental” fire.

Better to load a 12guage with 3in sabot slugs and plan some hard cover to fire from behind if needs be.

And let NO ONE know about your precautions.

12 ga with 1 oz slugs (sometimes OO buck) is next to the bed. If it's a no-knock raid they will already be inside so I wouldn't expect the "tear gas." But I would expect to be dead. In such a situation I wouldn't even be trying to discern who the home invaders were. I would be pumping out lead and taking cover. Head shots would be the rule.

The warning is just a public announcement. Like when property is being divided. I do it about once a year at least. That is essentially the only warning anyone will get and I have much more at my disposal than the Mossberg that I never mention. Except my kukri. I don't mind mentioning that.

Works for me.

I didn’t figure you were actually going to put that on the door, just saying...

Merry Christmas and keep your head down.

For nearly a week, the department refused to release the search warrant used to justify the assault

Silly me, I thought the police were supposed to serve the warrant.

I think the warrant was written on an etchasketch.
