I seem to remember that when the issues came up on the ballot, the Vets groups actually supported them. They mistakenly thought they'd be exempt from the regulations. Now they are some of the most targeted.

If someone doesn’t like the smoke then why go to a private club?

This is a good example of government out of control.

One Saturday this past summer, I was in the heart of downtown Cleveland in Tower City. I was on an OUTSIDE balcony with three young Army men in uniform who were in town for a West Point game with a local team. We were enjoying the beautiful weather, a chat, and a smoke. Someone called a Cleveland police officer on us. This is what happens when you pass bad law. Ohio could have had something sensible that the vast majority of Ohioans would have been happy with. Instead, we got this junk. And as a result, there are a lot of unhappy people in the state of Ohio. This is what angers people against government and each other. Where has common sense gone?

My County Health Director was angry about this law and called it, “ridiculous” during a conversation I had with him.

Good idea! Tie up the police and courts with thousands of smoking complaints and hearings.

Even Adolph Hitler didn't conceive of such tyranny.

I can’t wait to get out of this state of Ohio, and I never thought I’d say it. When I go to Pennsylvania to play slots for a couple of hours (gambling is against the Ohio State Constitution), I purchase cigarettes and gas in Pennsylvania. Sad, isn’t it?

Fines for violating the ban, which outlaws indoor smoking in most public places, ...

...Of the top 10 targets of smoking complaints in the state, eight are private clubs.

Words no longer have meaning.

It’s pathetic that hubby and I have to go to Vegas where he can have a cigar with his adult beverage. Hubby only smokes about 6 cigars per year, but just to be able to do that is a treat.

I used to believe that the anti-smokers were basically well-intended people who didn’t see the dangers of govt oppression of personal beahvior.

No longer.

After reading feedback and articles from anti-smokers I’ve come to believe that they are without exception hateful little would-be tyrants. Those of us who actually believe in freedom who aren’t abject cowards were foolish to ever cave in to these people and history will prove that going to full blown civil war over this issue would have been justified.

The anti-smokers are the sort of people who look through their shades into their neighbors’ homes with binoculars. They are the people who marched down the strasses with the words “Heil Hitler” on their lips. Don’t believe all their complex excuses for their totalitarian beliefs. They are dangerous people... the sort who practice tyranny over everyone who makes them feel nervous. They hate freedom. They love oppressing their neighbors all the while spewing their self-righteous claptrap.

They should be recognized as what they are. Enemies. Without exception. They are murdering freedom with thunderous applause.

I visit the anti-smoking sites that list the violators, so I can know where to go to patronize the businesses that are NOT caving in to the smoke-Nazi's. Easily, where a ballot initiative provides a discriminatory law that is favored by a majority who are unaffected like the non-smokers, it will pass, whereas if it were some other targeted law (be it "no blacks", no "women", no "non-English speaking", etc.) where THEY were targeted, it would be passed by simple majority vote, but "diverstity" and "alternative lifestyle" proponents would use the Liberal "hate" card for sure.

Unfortunately, smokers are not recognized by the Socialist Elitists as a "protected Class", like faggots and dykes, cross-dressers, minorities, etc., and are therefore the brunt of political-correctness gone wild, without regard for un-fairness and un-equal treatment. (There's no shortage of Sin Taxes that are applied to smokers to fund new stadiums, etc., though).

When the Fat Tax comes, and the fatass Smoke Nazi's become targeted, we'll see how they appreciate the Nanny State.....

I see this sign everywhere when I visit my parents in Ohio. It's the first thing you see on the door when you go to mass, even. It's the most nazi-ish sign I've ever seen a state government produce.

Private clubs are among the state's worst offenders,

Where in the constitution does it give the government, fed, state, or local, to ban any legal activity on private property? Or on public property for that matter.
