Maybe he should have used a stolen gun.
Hello all..
I’m the girlfriend of the homeowner that shot the intruder. I was there and wanted to give as much info as I can. YES... the intruder was in our home when we entered. To answer the question as to why my boyfriend was armed... He has the RIGHT to bear arms, being a marine of eight years serving in Iraq he is trained and comfortable arming himself. I am glad to see all of the support in the community. I feel safe with him by my side, and my neighbors should too.
Merry Christmas to you all.
I really appreciate this comment.
Another recent one, this time from the Houston Chronicle (link above.) Tacked on to a quote by Joe Horn's lawyer about Horn's involvement with guns: "'...a concealed weapon permit.'...Horn has no such permit. Nor does he have any military experience or gun club membership..." Implying that you need a concealed carry permit, military experience and/or membership in a gun club to responsibly own a gun. The Washington Post puts a picture of the Virginia Tech murderer on the front page, but stories of armed citizens successfully defending themselves are vastly under-reported by most major news sources. [The Joe Horn story is probably in an other posting on FreeRepublic--please excuse my beating a dead horse!]
I live in Seattle. The lefties here, and that's the vast majority, have a tough time figuring anything out....even the obvious.
Maybe they could ask Jim McDermott...he's our Congressman. Surely he'd know.
Cool! I’m guessing you are for real. Congrats to your boyfriend for a job well done! We all appreciate his service to our country as well. Merry Christmas to both of you.
Oh, ye of a little faith. Know ye not that violence only begets violence?
Why, he is supposed to gently take the intruder's gun away; carefully unload it; put a trigger lock on it; lock it in an approved gun safe...while locking the ammunition in a different location; then politely ask the intruder to please await the arrival of the police.
Meanwhile, his wife (having already dialed 911) should be fixing a pot of decaf, and preparing a platter of sugar free, low-fat donuts and whole grain tomato & cucumber sandwiches.
If people just would not get excited when undocumented occupents are found in their house, there would be far less violence in the world.
At this Christmas Season, these mean spirited, selfish people should have graciously shared their plenty with the disadvantaged unathorized appropriator.
Agreed! Keeping us protected at home and abroad!! In spite of this traumatic event I hope that you both can put this nastiness behind you and find joy in a job well done and have a very Merry Christmas.
You sound like you know exactly how a robber should be treated! They are SO misunderstood.
LOL! Merry Christmas!
Actually, yes. So far, I've been fortunate. The few times I've been forced to pull a weapon, the perp(s) quickly gave up, without my needing to fire a single round.
Merry Christmas, ArmedHomeowner! And welcome to the FreeRepublic, where armed homeowners are legion.
Uh, maybe because a homeowner might come home to find a burglar in his house?
(Newspaper reporters write the most bizarre things....)
“It’s unknown why the homeowner had a handgun, Petersen said.
Peterson has what is commonly called “Dumb Cop Syndrome”.”
My guess is that the reporter asked the police officer “why did the homeowner have a gun?” and the police said “I do not know.” And that produced the above quote.
It is too bad that your holidays were interrupted by this selfish and sociopathic attacker. I am glad that your boyfriend was able to defend you.
I hope that you are able to come through the difficult times that follow with a minimum of trouble.
Know that there are many here who support you and yours in the defense of their loved ones and property.
Thank you for enriching our community.
Maybe correct, but far to many cops think they are the only ones that are suppose to have them.
