"San Francisco officials have a moral obligation to try and stop black residents from abandoning the city and should consider a local version of the Marshall Plan to help African Americans, the Rev. Amos Brown, president...
"...He said the flight of black residents has resulted in fewer black-owned businesses, and fewer black families who are able to compete successfully for low- income housing, which is awarded through a lottery system.
"If San Francisco is serious about making amends for what's been done against the black people, they need to put their money where their mouth is," Brown said.
"We need a Marshall Plan," he said, referring to the U.S. plan to help Europe recover from the devastating effects of World War II.
He called on the mayor to appoint a "czar" who could focus on issues facing the city's black residents, primarily improving educational opportunities for black children. Such a plan would favor black contractors for city projects, he said, and reserve 75 percent of low-income housing slots for needy African Americans.
"The lottery is killing our seniors," he said...

Far too many idiotic statements there to choose from.
Someone ought to tell this bozo that Lyndon Johnson’s War on Poverty was the “Marshall Plan for the poor.” Does he really want another War on Poverty considering the WoP created many of the problems the “rev” seems to want to the federal government to fix...or at least to pay for.
Too bad the opposite is every San Francisco liberals' secret dream, Reverend Brown.
Trust me on this one. I lived there eight years.
People compete for low income housing?
Right, this story is beyond logic and reason....but it is San Francisco and with a tourist attraction like the Folsom Street Fair, anything is possible.
Poor Mr. (rev) Brown (aka Nagin west) everybody is in such a hurry to leave they forgot to ask his permission... sorry dude ...
Brown should tell Newsome to cede SF from the USA and establish a walled country where residents are not allowed to leave — The Pink Iron Curtain .

Tell them to read the classified section of the newspaper IF they can read at all !
Hey Amos, I’m from the gubbermint and I’m here to help ya.

Yes. San Francisco Liberals, please show us the way. Show us how to cure homelessness and end racism and intolerance. You are the “enlightened ones”, we need you to show us how well your progressive approaches will work.
Free things for melanin. At work, it’s free things for melanin and/or estrogen. WAFJ
Maybe use some of that coinage to deal with the militant homeless population?
A couple years ago I nearly had to take out one homeless dude with an elbow to the nose when he started to put his hand on my shoulder, attempting a shake down.
Sure. No favoritism; just be certain that only approved groups are applying...
I dare anyone to step up and tell me how this plan is not racist.
Of course, in 'Frisco, the American version of Sodom, two wrongs always make a right and two homosexuals make a happy family.
Sounds like something Alan Keyes would say....
Sounds familiar, smells like....................!
Glad I don’t live in that liberal cesspool any longer. Now, if we can just escape California altogether...
