My sincere opinion is that energy expended on Thompson is wasted energy. Well, you are wasting lots of energy smearing Fred then, aren't you? I always get a good laugh out of the mittbots whining about mitt being picked on while some, like you, sign up for the express purpose of smearing another candidate. Classy.

I think TT’s reasoning was Romney had the best chance of heading off the Huckaboom, which would be a disaster for TT’s cause. I am sure he knows Thompson would be far better than Romney, but he thought Romney had the best shot at getting the nomination.

There’s only one Fredhead I know who behaves in that manner and I wish he wouldn’t.
Most of us folks for Fred would vote for any Republican nominee and don’t do much trashing of the others.
Well, Ron Paul isn’t worth trashing and Huckleberry needs trashing and thrashing and McCain is still crazy,
but, other than that ....

I appreciate your analysis, but I thought that Romneys performance on Meet The Press (Russert) was absolutely pathetic. When he wasnt waffling or weaseling, he was waltzing around the questions instead of offering straight answers.. I hope you didn't think that was an endorsement of Mitt, lol. Just some very sad thoughts about where we are headed. The Mitt supporters will tell you themselves it takes more than a history and then they will use either Saul of Tarsus or Reagan to make a point about new converts. Dogs aren't pathetic when they bark, nor is Mitt when he flips, flops and flexes more than a 12 year old Romanian gymnast. Quite simply this is what they do. The question is, "Are conservatives tired of listening to the dog bark or are they going to continue to pull the pillow around their ears and pretend he isn't barking?".

I would like to see a brokered convention and I agree it would be an opportunity for conservatives. Look for the silly, “The Republicans need to get behind one candidate before March” mantra to begin in earnest very soon. You know because a tight race will weaken the candidate in the generals. Translated, it means, hurry up and pick the moderate/liberal we like before the electorate gets a clue.
I am not so sure if the GOP wants to shut Conservatives out at an non-brokered convention. Conservatives are already pi$$ed and it wouldn’t take much for them to walk out, stay home, or run a 3rd party candidate. I think we will see pretty much what we will have seen throughout the primary. Liberals and Moderates pretending to be conservatives and conservatives(?) believing them.

“If I ran the world we’d see Hunter on Pres. Thompson’s cabinet for 4-8 years, followed by 4-8 years of Presidency. :)”
In the real world I would love to see that, but in my fantasy world, Thompson and Hunter would be considered as good candidates for liberals only.
In other words move the whole starting point much farther to the right.

I don’t think any of these guys will get over 30% of the delegates in the primaries. Rudy will get the most if for no other reason he stands to win NY and NJ, and they are winner-take-all. I don’t think anybody will drop out, because the primaries will be over in a month or so, so they won’t have to worry about not raising money over several months. My money is on a brokered convention with Rudy, Mitt, Fred, Huck and McCain each having 10-30% of the delegates.
Now that you mention it, Fred just might support McCain. Or if Fred does better than expected, it might be the other way around. After all, they were in the same club, and nobody else was.
