I’m not a Romney supporter but to try and link a possible policy of increasing the size of Guantanamo with the mistreatment of teens in youth facilities supported by a few of Romney’s campaign people is really stretching it.

I do NOT support clear abuse of teens.

Nevertheless, serious measures do have to usually be applied to TRY and turn around folks who’ve suffered REACTIVE ATTACHMENT DISORDER from botched parenting the first 5-8 years of life.

And, a boot-camp sort of experience IF STRUCTURED WELL, HUMANELY BUT TOUGH WITH TOUGH AUTHENTIC !!!!CARING!!!! CAN turn many such teens around. But finding quality staffing can be a real challenge. Without the quality staffing, it’s a set-up for abuse, imho.

It is very, very difficult to find folks who are willing, even “called” to such a job . . . to be TOUGH WITH LOVE and sensitive discernment to know when to apply which.

Programs which do not EFFECTIVELY marry TOUGHNESS AND LOVE are doomed to failure, imho. At best they moderate the problems slightly and typically worsen them.

This is guilt by association. What evidence is there that Romney knew of any of these allegations against some of his campaign workers, let alone condoned the behavior or was in any position to influence these workers’ behavior? The article supplied none. The editors of Reason should change the name of their rag after publishing this - it is the antithesis of Reason.

If you want to criticize Romney, fine - focus on his record in Massachusetts and his statements/proposals in this campaign.
