Great job O’Malley...now he can spread his liberal misery to the rest of the state.

Typical for that part on city, only most not reported.

Let me be the first to ask - what is a 14 year old doing on a bus at this hour without a parent???

I propose a special corps of “Death Wish” cops to clean up these areas.

All LBJ’s fault.

Not an issue of PERSONAL parental responsibility and priorities...no...not at all.

Have the security tapes been erased yet, or is the person that does that on vacation?

Whose 14 year old child is out without adult supervision at 12:45 AM? Not mine!

Yep, and the 14-year-old’s parent’s will sue the transit authority for not protecting their little angel.

He got on the bus at Security Blvd and Rolling Road, which is in the County. Anywhere the busses go, this kind of thing could happen.

Groups of African American youths should be approached with extreme caution. No one is safe, especially if you go shopping in the malls or live near the Light Rail or off a major artery or whatever.

I grew up there and at 12 (50’s) got bus and street car transfers all over the city. NW Baltimore is probably the most dangerous.

It ought to be easy enough to find the shooter. Simply check through the Maryland Pistol Permit data base. It’s a pretty small data base and extremely tightly regulated so the man in Baltimore with the same physical characteristics should pop right out. Oh, wait. There are only a few scattered, honest citizens who have managed to jump through nearly impossible legal hoops registered in there. Never mind.

NW Baltimore is probably the most dangerous.

Your information is without a doubt dated. The only "safe" areas now are near the inner harbor and along the water to Canton, South Baltimore and the center section along Charles St is not bad, but property crime is rampant there. The rest is pretty dang dangerous, and its creeping into the suburbs

East Baltimore is among the most dangerous parts of the city. It leads the city's other police districts with 41 homicides as of Oct. 8, an increase of 11 percent from the corresponding time last year, and 98 nonfatal shootings, an increase of 17 percent.

In fact, they were talking of taking measures some people refer to as martial law .

O’Malley was a fraud. He got elected becuase of his promise to enact Guliani’s “broken windows” policy of enforcing the law, but he never did it, and homicides went up. Under Dixon it has gotten much worse, even. “Believe”, indeed.

I still love visiting I lived in NE, (Lauraville). My favorite watering hole is Racer’s and Dead Freddie’s. My sister was manager at Lewie’s Book Store Cafe on Charles, way back. Went to Poly on North Ave, so I am dated.

The inner harbor isn't safe in the least. It just gives that impression because it doesn't look like it was firebombed last week. Our last trip down to the IH my family got stalked - some shiftless guy who followed our every turn, walking when we walked, stopping when we stopped. He was probably after the purses or maybe even trying to follow us back to our car. As for the burbs and the counties, anywhere the mass-transit lines go, Baltimore follows...

Safe relatively, but not from property crime. More like other cities, I should say. But no matter, your point is taken. The only way you could clean up Baltimore would be if you did what they did in New Orleans; drive out as many disfunctional people as you can, and keep them out. Sorry to say.
