But as Huckabee now mounts his closing argument for the Iowa caucuses, he has moved full bore into the rhetoric of economic populism. "I am out to change the Republican Party. It needs changing. It needs to be inclusive of all those people across America for whom this party should stand," he said Sunday, on CBS's Face The Nation. On the trail, he speaks regularly of challenging the "Washington to Wall Street power axis."
At some of these events, if you close your eyes, you would think a Democrat was speaking â Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton turned southern Baptist.
The GOP does not need "changing." It needs reminding and it needs energy in its new leader. It needs to recommit to its traditional stand against excessive spending and the growth of government. It needs to affirm its belief in victory in the war and to the nomination and confirmation of originalist judges. It needs to endorse extension of President Bush's tax cuts and elimination of the death tax. It needs to argue for the rights of the unborn and the protection of those least able to protect themselves.
What the GOP definitely does not need is neopopulism, class warfare, and identity politics of the sort Mike Huckabee has been selling the last four weeks. Huckabee's lunge left may not have been premeditated, but it clearly displayed a candidate with no anchor in the GOP's tradition of fiscal restraint, free trade and low taxes and a very limited understanding of the world's most dangerous forces.

It was Rudy Giuliani who launched Huckabee in Iowa.
Carl Cameron reported that on Fox News about 2 months ago. Giuliani did so to stop Romney’s early state momentum and strategy.
Something you should listen to...but probably will not do.
One typically will not get mugged when wearing a holster with a loaded, semi-automatic Desert Eagle in in. Food for thought.
What more do we need to hear from these joker?
OK, so I’m confused. How could so many in this thread attack Huckabee (no, I’m NOT a supporter of his; still checking them all out...) for his support of the Fair Tax/NRST? What on earth is “left wing” or “liberal” about that????
you are trying to enlighten a seriously ignorant person. I read his home page too. He is like many I have encountered -- driven by one thing ENVY. People who are insanely jealous of true achievers who made great wealth through the wonderful capitalist system, become obsessed with using government to "level the playing field." Those who are envious in many ways are evil to the core. They try to rationalize any method that would punish those who make a dollar more than they. The fool, with whom you are trying to enlighten is a lost cause. He and his lot must be defeated; reasoning with them is impossible.
“...if you close your eyes, you would think a Democrat was speaking.”
When you open your eyes, you know a Democrat is speaking. Is there a single regular Freeper, not counting Huckster plants, that still supports this fraud.
What is OBONE-Fred our only hope?
I agree with you on Huckabee, but your Article 8 is vague and simplistic.
Huckabee's morbid remark that other candidates should consider slitting their wrists with razor blades in a tub of warm water.

Lying about the cross in his ad being intentional. (There's nothing wrong for him to have a cross in the ad. But just be up front about it, instead of denying it)
And the latest- more joking about killing... Yes, he was joking, but still this is creepy imo, for someone who puts himself forward as the 'Christian' candidate.
"If you vote for me you live, if you don't..."
I can only assume it’s because of how many times he’s raised taxes, thus meaning that any promise he makes to initiate such a tax is nothing more than mere rhetoric.
LLS
I don’t understand why people even consider Huckabee to be a social conservative. He’s supposedly pro-life, but he’s taken money from one of the largest embryonic stem cell companies on the planet. He’s supposedly anti-gay marriage, but says there’s “probably” a right to sodomy in the Constitution. That leaves the Second Amendment, where, during his big “I heart guns” photo op he joked about shooting his opponents. Not helpful in promoting gun ownership.
Why are socons falling for this faker?
Mike Huckabee and the New New Deal
He should. More and more he fits with the Dems.
His Senate race was managed by Ed Rollins, who now works for Huckabee...
The only question I have about Huckabee at this point is what won’t he say in the attempt to win the nomination?
And that folks, is why I won’t support him.
