He has fought against foes ranging from the Green Goblin to Doctor Octopus, but Spider-Man now faces an even more formidable challenge: improving the battered image of the United Nations.
In a move reminiscent of storylines developed during the second world war, the UN is joining forces with Marvel Comics, creators of Spider-Man and the Incredible Hulk, to create a comic book showing the international body working with superheroes to solve bloody conflicts and rid the world of disease.
The comic, initially to be distributed free to 1m US schoolchildren, will be set in a war-torn fictional country and feature superheroes such as Spider-Man working with UN agencies such as Unicef and the blue hats, the UN peacekeepers.

You can almost see the comic book based on this...
Spiderman: So the US is responsible for all the trouble in the world?
UN Rep: That’s correct.
Spiderman: I’m so ashamed to be an American. I think I’ll go fight crime in Toronto.

that’s okay, Marvel did some retro continuity to make Captain America the lily white “test subject” for the super soldier formula after a series of racist experiments on black people.
Stan Lee and Ron Pearlman were both Clintonistas who had their own blowback scandals.
So long Marvel, it was good to know you once upon a time.

They also had Captain America suffering a crisis in conscience by having him make the bombing of Dresden and 9-11 morally equivalent (before they killed Cap off, of course.)

And Marvel wonders why subscriptions have been declining year after year. I guess stories that say god doesn’t exist, and your country is evil don’t sell very well. But that doesn’t stop marvel from continuing down their self destructive path.

Back in the 60s, the mainstream comic book industry was taken over by college Marxists who continue to inject liberal themes into everything from Captain America to Iron Man. Since fantasy land is the only place where socialism works on a large scale, it’s a natural fit.

By coincidence;
The last 8 comics I bought were ALL DC COMICS. Now I know.
My last comics were Action comics 670 and 671, teen Titans 54, 53, Green lantern 25, 26, Green lantern Corps 18, 19 and Batman and Batman Confidential.
At least Green Lantern always “nods” to our guys @ the U.S. armed forces.

On the old superman tv series wasn’t it ‘truth, justice and the American way’? It will be a sad day if D.C. comics allows this illegal immigrant to spit on the country that took him in, gave him a chance to live a great life, by making him a UN representative.
To: imd102
The comic, initially to be distributed free to 1m US schoolchildren, will be set in a war-torn fictional country and feature superheroes such as Spider-Man working with UN agencies such as Unicef and the blue hats, the UN peacekeepers. Aren't there enough non-fictional Muslim and "Animist" war-torn countries? Why do they need to make one up? How about sending Spiderman to covert everyone to Christianity. That seems a lot more effective than any aid or "peacekeeping" force.

Yeah, but in the '70s he did way too much self-indulgent soul-searching and hanging out with that pinko Oliver Queen (a k a Green Arrow), who was also a VERY bad influence on Black Canary.

The comic, initially to be distributed free to 1m US schoolchildren, will be set in a war-torn fictional country and feature superheroes such as Spider-Man working with UN agencies such as Unicef and the blue hats, the UN peacekeepers. Now why would the most affluent children in history need to be given free comic books? Why not poor children who can't afford them? I suspect the answer is that the former need to be propagandized and the latter know better, especially the ones who ended up getting raped by their UN saviors.
I wonder too who the villains will be? Rampaging Muslim extremists who slaughter children in Darfur, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Lebanon, the Netherlands, London, Madrid, and Paris? Let me go way out on a limb here and predict probably not.
On the upside, it might be worth the trouble to snag a couple of these. Twenty years from now they'll make hysterically funny reading if by then we're still allowed to read them.
