Jetstar flight evacuated after powder found

A JETSTAR aircraft has been quarantined at the Gold Coast Airport after a crew member found white powder on board.

Before passengers had boarded the 6.20am (AEST) flight to Sydney, the crew member found about half a cup of unidentified powder at the rear of the aircraft.

The plane was evacuated and isolated by Australian Federal Police who are examining the powder.

Jetstar spokeswoman Simone Pregellio said the service was cancelled, and passengers re-routed on to other Jetstar and Qantas services from the Gold Coast and Brisbane.
