Minnesota Atheists are taking their message to the air waves with a new radio program that will debut in January on the talk station Air America Minnesota.
Called "Atheists Talk" -- the same name as a show the organization airs on cable access television -- the live radio broadcast featuring news, interviews, listener call-ins and special guests is believed to be the first show of its kind in Minnesota, said August Berkshire, a spokesman for the Minnesota Atheists.
The show will air Sundays from 9 to 10 a.m. on AM 950 starting Jan. 13 when Oxford professor, evolutionary biologist and renowned atheist Richard Dawkins will be the featured guest. The weekly shows also will be streamed live on the radio station's website (www.airamericaminnesota.com/listen) and made available as a podcast at www.minnesotatheists.org/podcasts, Berkshire said.
Until now, Berkshire said the organization reached only a small and shrinking number of people who tuned into its public access cable TV show. He said the radio program will open the way to reach a larger audience.
"Fewer people are watching public access, but they are listening to talk radio," said Berkshire, who has been involved with the atheist movement locally since 1984. "We really want to expand our audience and this will allow us to reach people all over the state of Minnesota."

Athiests and liberal wackos - you couldn’t ask for a better paring than that, could you?
Almost sounds like going to church.
By the way, how do you spend an hour talking about what you DON"T believe in?
How many times can you actually listen to the “No Hope Hour” ?
I did a little digging and saw where former congressman Bill Luther (unseated by John Kline) is one of the guiding lights ($) behind this station....
Hour of Sour with your host I. M. Offended
I would listen in and report back here......but, their signal can’t swim and it needs to somehow get across the river.
Sorta like Illinois Nazis.
Conservative talk shows haul in great ratings.
Air America filed Chapter 11.
The market speaks.
Air waves can’t be seen or felt, so this program obviously won’t exist.
I bet they aren’t hoping and praying their show will have success.
Hoping, yes....
Praying. no.
Air America is still on? Didn’t Rush Limbaugh drive them out of business?
Oh, no, that’s right, Rush didn’t have to say a word. Just let them keep on talking, they would soon manage to display their own lack of manners and comprehension.
LOL!
By spending an hour bashing and attacking those who DO believe in God. It'll be more of the usual leftist anti-Christianity schtick. That would be my guess.
Good one!
