Maybe those punks shouldn’t have been teasing the tiger. Ever think of that? If you’re too scared to even go to a zoo, I wonder how you get through life.
The current reports say the youths did NOT provoke the tiger.
The one killed tried to distract the tiger off his friend, and succeeded a bit too well.

MANITOWOC (WI)- A scary situation in Manitowoc Thursday morning: two cougars got loose at the Lincoln Park Zoo! Manitowoc police say the suspect or suspects somehow got over this fence and into the Lincoln Park Zoo overnight and cut a hole in the cougar cage.

Must be a public school thing. My daughter’s private school just installed equipment that is theme park worthy.

You can tell the school playgrounds from the public parks here by looking for a swingset. Both playgrounds have modern, high end playscapes for climbing, sliding, and other fun things, but the ones at the schoolyard don’t have swings.

They might have done something stupid, but the guy who died didn’t deserve death. A year of community service cleaning up the tiger crap would have been fitting.
May the lawsuit bankrupt the city and get of those who now govern it.

Animals in the wild are much more likely to kill people than animals in the zoo.
Remember the gorilla that escaped a while back? Same thing. Thats why I think this zoo’s management deserves a kick in the rear. This has happened with a gorilla recently. These 300 plus pound animals are all muscle, extremely strong.
30 foot moat a problem for a tiger?

Tigers had nearly escaped from that enclosure for at least 10 years.
It would appear many must accept some degree of liability in this indcident, not the least of which is no doubt those boys. Think of it this way: this habitat is said to have been built approx 1940 and evidently not once in all that time has there been a tiger get out over that wall. Why do you think that is?
All I'm saying is those who would engage in reckless activity / behavior that places them in harm's way must necessarily be assigned a certain portion of the liability for what happens to them. It's a principal of law that will be applied, if the evidence confirms what I believe transpired.
Out of curiosity, could you comment on why the Dahliwal brothers have been completely unwilling to cooperate with police. These brothers were convicted earlier this year of drunk and disorderly as well as resisting arrest. One or both is scheduled for a Court appearance to answer to charges again on January 15, 2008. Prior bad acts may mean nothing, but I do keep it in mind in assessing the type of persons they are. There's not much in this tragedy that isn't ugly, including the physical situation at the zoo.
