[British] Ministers tell nurseries to allow boys toy guns
London Times ^ | December 29, 2007 | Nicola Woolcock

Boys should be allowed to play with toy weapons at nursery, according to government advice that contradicts guidance from police and teachers.

Ministers do not mention toy guns specifically but they claim that some form of “weapons play” could help to engage boys in education.

However, teachers said that the guidance, published today, had no basis in educational practice, could encourage aggression among pupils and would anger and confuse parents.

Children have been suspended from school previously, or even arrested, when caught playing with toy guns.

The advice, from the Department for Children, Schools and Families, says that nursery staff should ignore their “natural instinct” to stop young boys playing games with weapons. It says that such activities can help to engage them.

If that were the law when I was a kid, I'd have been a felon before leaving Second Grade.

Say goodbye to the british. They’ve committed suicide.

When I was a kid, my dad came to school more than once to threaten a teacher that punished me for taking part in a fair fight.

I can’t comprehend the diseased liberal mind. How did things get this warped?

I wasn’t allowed to have toy guns as a child. Then again, my father taught me how to handle firearms, shoot and such from an early age. He also taught me that guns aren’t toys, that they are made for killing things.

“However, teachers said that the guidance, published today, had no basis in educational practice, could encourage aggression among pupils and would anger and confuse parents.”

Those parents who are confused and angry about this are showing their intolerance of different cultures and should be asked to accept some sensitivity training to help them better acclimate to our multicultural world.

Papa Freud made a comment to the effect that a fear of weapons is a sign of a dysfunctional sexuality.

Another comment made by a Catholic priest is that the corruption of the intellect begins at the crotch.

It is a combination of crotch politics and fear that has brought things to this sorry situation.

I sent my sister’s girl a baby doll, some baby toys, and a cap gun. And a note that said “this is your baby, this is your baby’s toys, and this is so you can protect your baby”.

My sis says she won’t put it down and shoots the dog whenever it gets too close.

It is pure nonsense to blame toy guns for violent crime, yet this "explanation" provides the PC crowd with a safe, so-called solution.

There are not enough people with access to the public who have shown the courage to tell it like it really is. The real culprits are negligent parents, including those who give their children plenty of material things but not much moral, practical guidance.

We also see the kids who grow up in gangland neighborhoods. It takes strong, dedicated parents AND a strong child to succeed in such a climate.

My brothers and their friends played with toy guns and toy soldiers. They didn't turn into violent criminals.

Another reason to avoid having any contact with the GOOBERMENT, keep your children away from these people, keep yourself away from these people. The less contact I have with employees of any federal/state agency the better off I am. They usually are all about insane rules and me paying them money or some type of control over my life. Take your kids out of PUBLIC school, Private school or Home school if you can. Save the Children!

When I was coming out of a department store one Christmas season about 40 years ago, several lefty demostrators were protesting the fact that this store sold toy guns. I have noticed that you don’t see boys playing with toy guns the way you used to see years ago. All young boys liked to play war, cops and robbers and cowboys and indians. It seems like they no longer do this.

Looking back I can see how the lefties have gotten into our heads and shaped our thinking in ways that we are not even aware of.
