Philippians 3:13-14

. . . But this one thing I do,
forgetting those things which are behind,
and reaching forth unto those things
which are before.
I press toward the mark
for the prize of the high calling of God
in Christ Jesus.

Our Gracious God,

As we near the end of yet another year, we are once again amazed at Your loving grace and Your unending faithfulness. You have seen us through the peaks and the valleys. You have seen us through triumphs and losses. You are our Glorious God of ages past----the God Who is our hope for eternity. Our need for You never ends. We lift up praises of thanksgiving and glory unto You, as we count our many blessings.

We ask on behalf of our brother in Christ, President Bush, that You would help him to forget those things which are behind, and reach forth for those things which are ahead, pressing toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. May he be a fervent follower of You in the coming year, standing fast in his love for the Savior. May his moderation, self-control, and obedience be an example to all, and may Your precious peace which passes all understanding, keep his heart and mind through Christ Jesus.

Make steadfast and strong all who stand in defense of this nation. May the prayers of Your people lift them up so that they may each dwell in the secret place of Your loving protection. We ask for complete, unequivocal victory in Iraq, Lord, that the freedoms of the people may forever stand, and that the lives of the precious fallen shall not have been in vain.

Fill our hearts with unending prayer, Lord, that we may affect eternity. Help us to spend time with You, seeking Your good pleasure, and learning to know Your eternal heart of love. We pray for blessings upon each praying child who pauses here. May You reward their faithfulness, cherish their prayers, and bring powerful spiritual blessings upon their households. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

It Is Not Good

The Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” —Genesis 2:18

In one prison system in the US, 25,000 of the most dangerous inmates endure solitary confinement in small concrete cells. They have virtually no contact with the outside world. An inmate at Oregon State Penitentiary said that the most difficult part about such isolation is “not being able to see somebody face to face . . . to communicate, to touch, to hug, to feel loved, to feel human.” This man’s words seem to scream, “I’m lonely! This is not the way it’s supposed to be.”

The writer of Genesis would have agreed. After God created man, He acknowledged Adam’s loneliness, and said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” In essence, God was saying that the man needed another person with whom he could be fully human. Although the immediate setting is companionship, in the larger context God is telling us that being fully human means enjoying relationship with other human beings.

No matter the cause of loneliness—sin, loss, shame, sickness, depression—God says this is “not good.” He created us to be in close relationship with others (Eccl. 4:9-12) and with Him (Rev. 21:3). Reach out and develop those needed friendships—for your sake and theirs.

As we prepare for the exit of this year, 2007, may we be thankful for the good things that have happened to many of us during that year. May the Lord continue His blessings on this great country..Bring Peace to those who hunger for same throughout the world. It is only in recognizing His great Love for us that we may find the Peace that He is willing to share. "May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be adored, glorified, loved and preserved throughout the world now and forever Amen"
