Hit it right on the head. Your post sums it up perfectly.

When I was a child and lived on the farm we never wore shoes in the Summer except for church and funerals.

A few workers told authorities that Tacuri did not withhold taxes or pay them overtime.

No wonder the Democrats can not get enough tax money to pay for health care.

Same here. Now I don't even go bare foot indoors.

“We talk a lot about illegal immigrants - how about talking about the U.S. taxpayer-blessed governing elites of the wretched countries they come from?”

What’s to talk about? We go with whomever is closest to our forign policy goals. There isn’t much more we could do than we ALREADY do, even if we wanted to.

How about people like your maid sticking around in their own (supposedly beloved) country and looking after it to the degree that it becomes something of which they may be proud? How about sleeping on straw for as long as she has to and persuing freedom for as long as it takes until the day that her family might own a mattress and home and all the other goodies? what did that mattress cost her family in freedom?

Either this is bad reporting, or the article seems to imply that he was a father at the age of 13 or 14?

Nobody is going to do jack squat about illegals until they crowd 40 per house in Beacon Hill and Marblehead.

Milford, home of the Milfs?

Seriously though, I can not fathom why our border still remains essentially wide open to allow this invasion.

I will cheer and clap the day that The Boston Globe and The New York Times go bankrupt.

One day I got a phone call from Boston Globe asking me to subscribe to their newspaper. And I sad : go and sell it in Vietnam or Cuba.! The caller hung up suddenly.

I don’t think we should kick him out of the country so quickly — make him pay all of his back taxes along with interest before he leaves.

Wonder if they confiscated his house for back taxes?

The Globe didn't mention if his successful roofing business was properly licensed. I'm guessing not. If your roof is installed by a 13 year-old with zero skills prior to entering this country, how good can it be? You think the building codes in South America are the same as here? What about some protection here for consumers?

Bottom line, this was an illegal immigrant running an illegal business and he has no legitimate right to remain here.

This reporter is an idiot. We can all read between the lines here. Because this illegal alien hired illegals, housed them and paid them cash he was able to under bid a Legal contractor probably by the 1000’s. How wonderful they make him sound. He and his ilk are putting AMERICANS out of business. Community leader my ass, he is a criminal.

1807: “But without black slaves, who will pick our cotton cheaply?”

Years ago I read a quote that said "If we knew then what we know now, we would have picked our own cotton", made me chuckle.

Ahem... In his (or her) post, QBFimi clearly indicated that the maid WAS "there" in her home country, and she voted for the candidate in her home country because his reign coincided with her family's acquisition of a mattress as an improvement over sleeping mats.

You might want to pause for comprehension, FRiend.

“We have family in South America - I once asked a maid there (age 50) why she voted for candidate so-and-so in the election. The answer: “Before he was in office, my family had to sleep on straw; now we have a mattress”. Nice.”

Looks like democracy in the Southern Cone has only evolved as far as our own Tammany Hall/ward heeler stage of 125 years ago.

“1807: “But without black slaves, who will pick our cotton cheaply?”

1907: “But without child workers, who will weave our textiles cheaply?”

2007: “But without illegal aliens, who will mow our lawns cheaply?””
_______________________________________________________________

That would make a great campaign ad. For someone actually running on that issue.
