It’s always better to fully comprehend any post one is responding to. I missed that point. Thank you. In this case the mistake is small and not terribly central to the point that the hellholes many illegal immigrants are “emigrating” from are hellholes in the first place because the indigenous populations seem to either sell their freedom to some tinhorn for some crappy accoutrement like a mattress or flee (illegally) to another country. They then send money back to their families thus propping up the tinhorn or his successor. This guarentees misery to the end of time. Also: I love that "Ahem" before your quite proper correction of my error. It transmitts a certain glee that I had thought died in many people just after Juinor High; but that, my observation of the Internet instructs, me is another error of mine.
>> We go with whomever is closest to our foreign policy goals.
Yup. And I guess for both the ‘Pubbies and Dimmos, the current goal is cheap lawn mowing and easy votes.
>> There isnt much more we could do than we ALREADY do, even if we wanted to.
First of all, it’s obvious that we DON’T want to. If we did, well, let’s see:
1/ Deport a FEW illegals, after confiscating all they own here. Not all, just a few. Chill the climate a bit.
2/ Cut down on the illegal immigrant pimps. What do you think Western Union counters are doing in 7-11s?
3/ Get the So-So Security folks to actually send out a FEW letters to businesses that hire SS# mismatched employees. Put one or two in jail.
4/ On a slow news day, arrest two or three homeowners having work done by illegals, and threaten to confiscate their homes.
5/ Release Border Patrol agents Ramos and Compean. Fire the next ten agents (and their district supervisors) who fail to pick up and deport and inmate when called by a city or county jail.
6/ Have the President, state governors each make at least ONE phone call to a sleazebag political buddy in Mexico saying “You guys better do something; things are getting pretty hot with the voters up here, we may have to start surcharging tourists with unpaid hospital bills.
Why don’t these articles ever state what the story occurred? Milford? Milford what?
Er.... WHERE the story occurred?
>> WHERE the story occurred?
The story ran in the Boston Glob - the town is Milford, Mass. - about 30 miles southwest of Boston. Doesn’t make a difference, though - pick a city: Milford, GA, OH, CT, IA. Same story.
My neighbor in Colorado had her house reroofed several years ago; AFTER the roofers gave an estimate, she said: “Oh, BTW, I assume that we’re all law-abiding citizens, but I want you to know I want to see a driver’s license from everyone that shows up on my property”. Afterwards, two of the company’s estimators refused to answer her calls.

Your friend was smart. If an illegal immigrant had fallen off her roof, he could have ended up owning her home.
I found the original poster's point interesting in that there are a LOT of US voters who seem to follow the same model for deciding their own vote - how else do people like Hillary manage to get elected from a newly adopted state?

I'm sorry you imputed glee to the "ahem". Honestly, I use it to signal confusion over what appears to be a complete misreading of the original post being replied to.
BTW, I need to apologize for my own bit of condescension. I'm afraid my final words, which you quoted in your post, were ill chosen and impertinent. I daresay that my final jab was the reason you read the glee into my "ahem". Please accept my apologies for that.
There is a crossed signal somewhere. In writing the above I was referring to the situation in the home countries of our illegal immigrants and American foreign policy initiatives. As far as your points vis a vis the illegals here-—I couldn’t POSSIBLY agree more.
Not every insurrection has to be violent, like you suggest. The upstate New York licensing authorities refusing to issue licenses to illegals despite the dictate from Spitzer is a classic example. For the record, I do not advocate violence against my fellow Americans. That would be illegal.
DING!!! DING!!! DING!!! We have a winner!!! You’ve summed it up beautifully
