“Data from RasmussenMarkets.com suggest that Giuliani has a 30.0 % chance of winning the Republican nomination, Mitt Romney 25.8 %, John McCain 21.0 %, Mike Huckabee 11.7 %, and Fred Thompson 3.3 %. However, those numbers are likely to shift dramatically as results come in from the upcoming Iowa Caucuses and New Hampshire Primaries.”

I actually think the McCain swing had started before the assassination. The talking heads are saying McCain benefits from the situation in Pakistan, but to me it sounds like those daily after-the-fact explanations of buys and sell-offs in the stock market: just so much explanation.

McCain is clearly the comfortable alternative in NH, where he has been embraced in the past and has ties to the GOP establishment. Otherwise I think voters are hovering over McCain only unless or until Fred shows viability in Iowa.

Does anybody ever go back and check these polls after they come out? I wonder how many of these polling people are ever right? Coward Dean would have won if they were right. Kohn Kerry would have won after that. Gore would have won in 2000. I just don’t believe these polls at all.

For the 1st time, Rasmussen has McCain leading the GOP pack nationally.

I know, but I believe he will win the general and what is the alternative at this point? I don’t see Thompson making a run.

Pro-open border, anti tax-cut, and quite hostile to the first amendment.

Any old Republican will do, eh?

All that matters is that there is an (R) next to their name.

So what if McCain engineered the gang of 14, so what if McCain authored the bill that took away freedom of political speech, so what if McCain was involved in the Keating scandal.

:sheesh:

You are correct. McCain would have the best chance to beat the Beast, but I doubt there are enough votes for him in the primaries to get him the nomination. There are too many Republicans who would rather be right than keep the White House. So be it.

My comment: Hope you enjoy your President Hildabeast. Personally, I would find McCain FAR more acceptable than the Beast.

The only time that I know they were right was in 2006 when they were spot on. I think that gave them a big ego. We will see if they are right in 2008. If they are, than they will just continue to get credibility.
