My Ninth Anniversary on FreeRepublic
Self | December 30, 2007 | exit82

Posted on 12/30/2007 9:00:23 PM PST by exit82

Tonight marks nine years of being on FreeRepublic. I am very grateful to Jim Robinson for starting this site. I came first through a link from the DrudgeReport back in the fall of 1998, found out about the March for Justice, and drove to DC not knowing if I would be the only one there. Back then, announcing events over the Internet and rallying folks was a new phenomon. When I arrived at the Washington Monument, there were four thousand other people there, and I knew my horror over the Clinton years was shared by far more people than I imagined. I met many wonderful people, and became a regular visitor to the FreeRepublic.com website.

I joined in on December 30, 1998. Since then, this has been my source for the news and political discussions. All of my fellow Freepers have been instrumental in my political education, and there is never a day that I do not learn something from the vast body of knowledge resident right here.

Next year, 2008, will be a pivotal year in American history and in the history of our families and friends. There is a 50-50 chance that a criminal Marxist will be elected President. As we worked in 1998 to impeach President Clinton for his criminal behavior in office, which came to be, we will need to work together to educate the American public of the dangers of a Hillary Rodham Clinton Presidency.

I'm just a keyboard warrior, but I've had a blessed life, thanks to the service and sacrifice of others in our tremendous military. Freedom has been real to me, and I realize that I perhaps have but another decade or two before I shake off this mortal coil. The farmers who stood and fired at Lexington and Concord, the storeclerks that fought at Gettysburg on both sides, the mechanics and regular guys that stormed ashore at Normandy and Iwo Jima, the factory workers that marched in the cold of Korea and the heat of Vietnam, and the best volunteer military force in history that now protects us in Iraq and Afghanistan--I owe something to them. And that something is to make sure their sacrifice was not in vain.

I thank all of my fellow Freepers for allowing me to be on this journey for the last nine years. I wish all of you, and those you hold dear, a wonderful, happy, healthy prosperous New Year. My fervent wish is that one year from now, we will once again celebrate that our country and its posterity is once again safe.

It has been one of the pleasures of my life to call you my friend. You and I have had some very good times in DC through the years. I hope the next time we meet will be at the Freeper Inaugural Ball in DC celebrating the victory of a good Republican in the presidential race.

By the way, just for the heck of it, I will throw in that on Jan 23rd, I will be celebrating 10 years of freeping--LOL! I'm a few months "older" than you in that regard.
