There were many who just didn’t apply for the longest time. I don’t know how many were able to continue working without one.

In the old days, no one from Clintoon to Monica would have gotten a security clearance.

This has been a very troubling question the day the Clintoon criminals took over the White House.

It is also my observation that security clearances are easy to get

Some are and some aren't.

But the key here is that the "local area commander" is ultimately responsible for issuing and revoking security clearances.

As Commander in Chief, Clinton could clear whomever he pleased.

I would think everybody in the West Wing who works that close to the Oval Office would have to have a security clearance.

And I have not read that previous first ladies had clearances so I’m missing this guy’s point.

I once asked a Boston cop for directions from China Town to the Expressway (to Ft. Devens.) I have no clue what he said.

Let’s just say if I had the need to know, I am cleared to access a great deal of information. Virtually everyone I know in the military has a security clearance (because I work in MI). Some of whom wold surprise you to know they have a security clearance. I don’t know, but it seems to me that those in uniform have an easier time getting a security clearance than civilians. I only know one guy who didn’t get his security clearance, and that was because he lied at MEPS.

I gave a link to the NY TIMES article to put things in perspective. Hillary has claimed great foreign policy expertise because of sleeping in a room adjacent to the president’s bedroom (my words). She never attended NSC meetings and never had a security clearance. Hackworth points out that Monica (the crazed stalker) had a security clearance. The comparison is interesting.

Why do I get the feeling that Miss Monica is not the only “bimbo” to receive instant security clearance.

Read Aldrich’s book “Unlimited Access.”

It wasn’t just the “Bimbos.”

Doug, love that picture of the Beest, but the one on the left is not immediately recognizable as Monica, surely there are ones without sunglasses, especially where she's wearing her trademark beret, that would convey the point more quickly.

One big question though--of course, we here at FR revile the 'Toons, but how does mention of Monica play around the country? Does it inspire the sucker-mom pity that enabled Shrillery to sell so many books? Or does the pity (if indeed there still is any) play in our favor, in that we don't elevate to leadership people we feel sorry for?

True, but when we (and the late night comedians, once they have writers to put words in their mouths!) make cracks about her, I’m curious as to whether that engenders sympathy, pity, or ridicule for Her Heinous. Maybe with the passage of a decade, its all faded, but I guess we will find out when the ten year anniversary of Clinton wagging his finger comes up in about four weeks. I expect that the media will not let that anniversary pass unnoticed.

Let's see.......a BI takes several months, sometimes up to a year. Parents, all addresses where you lived, schools, organizations, police records, DMV records, insurance, friends and neighbors, employment and tax returns.

Now, I find an expedited clearance for Monica a stretch but not implausible. A BI on Hillary would have resulted in a negative report and denial of clearance....too much baggage.

There was a Navy Captain and his XO at a COMSTA that ran the place but weren't cleared to even visit our spaces. Caused a lot of friction between the NSG and the regulars. C/W clearances were fully vetted and not a political favor or a reward for service.

Now, all kidding aside, Happy New Year, Dave and Bob!
