...Democratic voters are showing more passion for the race in part due to frustration that their party has been out of the White House for eight years. But their fervor also reflects their general approval of the party's three front-runners. Sen. Hillary Clinton, Sen. Barack Obama and former Sen. John Edwards, who are locked in a tight battle in Iowa, New Hampshire and elsewhere, broadly agree on most important issues. That suggests that their supporters would unite around the eventual nominee.
By contrast the Republican field is deeply divided, with candidates attacking each other over social issues, tax policies and immigration.
Asked if they could support a Democratic candidate "with enthusiasm" in November, as opposed to "with reservations," or depending on the opponent, half of Democratic voters say they could support Mrs. Clinton enthusiastically, according to the latest Wall Street Journal/NBC poll. Almost the same number said they could support Mr. Obama enthusiastically and 36% Mr. Edwards.
Among Republicans, the top-rated candidate is former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, with 35 % of Republican voters saying they could back him enthusiastically. Keenness for the other Republican candidates trails off after that.
So far, Iowans who have donated $200 or more to the presidential race have given Democrats a total of more than $503,000, compared with $376,000 to Republicans. That's a sharp reversal from 2000 when Iowa residents had given $205,000 in $200-or-more donations to Republican candidates and just $51,000 to Democrats.
The Iowa figures mirror the big lead Democratic presidential candidates have established in overall fund raising nationally. Democrats have so far raised $223 million, compared with $152 million for Republican candidates.

Wait till the Beast is nominated, and she casts her cold sulfur stare out through the TV and into our homes during the general election.
You’ll see some motivation on the Republican side then!
Youll see some motivation on the Republican side then!"
I agree 100%. There's only a few GOP'ers I would have a hard time supporting (and I don't think they have a snowballs chance of getting the nod), but I think any of the field would be a thousand times better for the country than the Beast.
Ans when it comes down to it, I'll do whats better for the country, even if it's not my chosen candidate.
Voters who don’t realize one actually has to register to vote, and illegal aliens.
Its called a primary, not a coronation.
They must be asking inside the beltway democrats - liberals out here in Arizona can’t stand Mrs. Clinton!
Ratmedia wishful thinking. If the rat puts up the beast there will be a new definition of polarization. For the first time we will see dead Republicans voting. If bloomberg jumps in it will be a laugher for us and we will come very close to regaining the Congress.
Well, I hope you’re right. But look at all the ridiculous chatter about Duncan Hunter & other such irrelevancies.
People need to get real & snap out of the nonsense & understand the threat we’re under.
Other than that, I hope you’re right!
I’m not scared,
We conservatives can only go to the well so often. work, cub scouts, sports etc. We were able to get 63 million to vote in ‘04. I tell my liberal friend, if you thought that was incredible please nominate She-Who-Must-Not-Be- Named!!!
We blew out the capital swichboard over immigration.(by the way, who is going to primary Lyndaey Grahmn?
We haven’t even hit January yet. I have a feeling that things will look a whole lot different come September. Is there any reason to believe that voting patterns will differ by more than a percent or two from the prior two elections? Republicans will get their chance. In my book, either Rudy or McCain has a greater than even chance to beat thr democRAT. If Thompson wakes up and shows some energy, he could also be added to the list. Huck is too much of a novice and Romney has too much of an obstacle to surmount given his Mormon background.
I live in a an area where 8 out of 10 people vote Democrat and they do not like the candidates they now have to choose from.
The Democrats know their candidates are all liberals and will pretty much do the same thing.
The GOP base knows most of their nominees are liberals, more so then Bush, why would they be excited to vote.
A glance at a typical thread over at the DUmmies board, and you can see large numbers of people who don’t like the Hildebeest. I not only hope she wins the Rat nomination, I hope she does it in a way that completely PO’s the Edwards, Obama, and Richardson supporters.
Me too and I pray that the FCC deals with crooks, illegals, voting frauds because Dems will be pushing all those voters to support Her Highness or the Empty Suit from Ill. Pubs should unite with conservs, libertarians of all stripes to vote against the socialist pacifists that represent the Dem Party.
If Hilary is selected half of those that opposed her will wind up not voting. Unless she can come up with something racist to throw at the Republicans we will see the black Democratic voters at an all time low. After all Bill might have been the first black President but Hilary was never the first black First Lady.
And who precisely are the democrats enthusiastic about?
The media darling is Obama, I guess, but I think the brain dead robot democrat lemming voters are largely responding to commands from The Oprah.
Who on earth is enthusiastic about Hillary or Edwards? Even the gays are bored.
Enthusiasm is a media thing. A vote is a vote whether cast enthusiastically or lackadaisically. The 'rats will turn out in their usual inflated numbers, and we have to be sure to get our base out as well. There will be no time for BS about ideological purity when confronting the Beast. As Rummy correctly said, You go to war with the Army you have, not necessarily the Army you want.
