Yes his name is Duncan Hunter....
I didnt think so.
You thought wrong.
They have spewed the words, but Romney is the only one who has really fought these issues.
You are correct on all but Duncan Hunter.
You are right....I stand corrected. Hunter has fought. Most of them have just mouthed the words.
Which candidate is out there fighting to turn over the ban on machine guns?
Romney tries to take a few positions that he took, once he knew the next election he would be facing would be the Republican Primaries, and try to convince us that this is the real Mitt Romney. Well governor, the truth is the positions that you were taking when you ran for office twice in Mass, are radically different from those you took once you started running for president (2004 - present).
Were you lying then, or are you lying now.
Saying he was the best governor you ever had in Arkansas isn’t saying much.
However, outside of Arkansas, where we don’t run chicken plants that depend on cheap illegal labor, we actually oppose amnesty for illegal aliens.
Abortion rights
I will preserve and protect a womans right to choose and am devoted and dedicated to honoring my word in that regard.

Immigration reform
With these 11 million people [here illegally], lets have them registered, know who they are....those that are here paying taxes and not taking government benefits should begin a process towards application for citizenship.
Lowell Sun, 3/30/06
One simple rule: no amnesty. If that [Kennedy-McCain bill] is not a form of amnesty, I dont know what is.
New York Times, 6/4/07
Gun laws
We do have tough gun laws in Massachusetts; I support them. I wont chip away at them; I believe they protect us and provide for our safety.
Romney in 2002 gov. debate, Boston Globe, 1/14/07
I have a gun of my own. I go hunting myself. Im a member of the NRA and believe firmly in the right to bear arms.
Boston Globe, 1/14/07
Amendment to ban gay marriage
Mitt does not support it...As far as Mitt is concerned, it goes farther than current law, and therefore its unnecessary.
Romney spokesman, Boston Globe, 3/22/02
When I was Governor, we took every conceivable step within the law to stop, block or slow down this unprecedented court decision.
Speech to National Right to Life Convention, 6/15/07
No new taxes pledge
Im not intending to, at this stage, sign a document which would prevent me from being able to look specifically at the revenue needs of the commonwealth
Associated Press, 3/27/02
Signing the pledge now sends a very clear message to those in Washington who have voted against tax relief and for tax hikes that such actions will never grow our regional and national economies.
Romney spokesman, Boston Globe, 1/5/07
Minimum wage
I think the minimum wage ought to keep pace with inflation. I think the minimum wage is a good thing to have in our economy and I think it ought to be updated.
Boston Globe, 10/17/94
[T]he challenge with raising the minimum wage excessively is it is a hurt to those that are entering the work force, the very poor, those that are trying to get early jobs, get those first jobs.
Associated Press, 7/25/06
Cutting Social Security
I dont think you go back and rewrite the contract the government has with people whove retired.
Boston Globe, 10/17/94
Personal accounts would be a big plus.... [Romney]also said changing the retirement age could be considered, as well as basing the Social Security cost of living adjustment on a different inflation gauge.
Union Leader, 6/7/07
Adoption non-discrimination
Governor Mitt Romney and a legislative leader yesterday delivered unwelcome news to the Catholic bishops of Massachusetts, who plan to seek permission from the state to exclude gay and lesbian parents from adopting children through its social service agencies. The governor said he was not authorized to give such an exemption...
Boston Globe, 2/17/06
And then another slide along the slippery slope. The Catholic Church was forced to end its adoption service, which was crucial in helping the state find homes for some of our most difficult to place children... Now, even religious freedom was being trumped by the new-found right of gay marriage.
Speech to National Right to Life Convention, 6/15/07
Stem cell research
[Romney]endorsed embryonic stem cell research, saying the controversial science might one day help treat his wifes multiple sclerosis....I am in favor of stem cell research. I will work and fight for stem cell research. Id be happy to talk to [President Bush] about this, though I dont know if I could budge him an inch.
Boston Globe, 6/14/02
FACT: Governor Romney Opposes Using Taxpayer Money to Fund Embryo-Destructive Research.

Bush tax cuts
Governor Mitt Romney refused yesterday to endorse tax cuts at the heart of President Bushs economic program...In addition to refusing to endorse the presidents tax cut, the governor surprised several people at the meeting by saying he is open to a federal increase in gas taxes.
Boston Globe, 4/11/0
[Romney] said it was absolutely critical to renew tax cuts proposed by President George W. Bush. Letting them expire would result in a massive tax increase that would retard economic growth, Romney said.
Detroit Free Press, 2/8/07
Reagan Republicanism
I was an independent during the time of Reagan-Bush. Im not trying to return to Reagan-Bush.
Boston Herald, 10/27/94
Ronald Reagan is ... my hero. ... I believe that our partys ascendancy began with Ronald Reagans brand of visionary and courageous leadership.
Boston Globe, 1/19/07
Desire to serve in Vietnam
I was not planning on signing up for the military. It was not my desire to go off and serve in Vietnam...
Boston Herald, 5/2/94
I longed in many respects to actually be in Vietnam and be representing our country there and in some ways it was frustrating not to feel like I was there as part of the troops that were fighting in Vietnam.
Boston Globe, 6/24/07
Romney has publicly expressed is support for the assault weapons ban. (Otherwise known as the ban on semi-automatic weapons that look like the fully automatic military versions, but aren’t really.).
If you supported the AWB,as Mitt did, you are no friend of the second amendment.
I totally agree with you!! When I was at the last NRA annual meeting someone from Mass told me not to let Mitt fool us on his stand on the Second Amendment! He’s a fake!
“I guess if a true ad makes you look bad, you have to pretend theres something wrong with it.”
Well this appears to be Mitt’s philosophy anyway. Seriously, have you ever heard of “You Tube” or “Google” When Mitt was actually running for office in Mass, he staked out positions on all these issues to the left of Ted Kennedy, and we’re supposed to buy into his 11th hour conversion, once he knew his next election would be in the Republican Primaries. I was born in the day, but not yesterday.
Actually, he staked out NO issues to “the left” of Kennedy. On most all issues he was to the right of Kennedy. He was equal to Kennedy on abortion, unfortunately.
On rights for gays, he was to the right of Kennedy, but felt that by approaching the issue in a more rational, right-minded basis, he would be much better for gays than Kennedy, who wouldn’t get anything he wanted passed.
Bush has been good for gun owners, so your assertion that being willing to sign the AWB makes you “not a friend” is provably false.
Romney will not enact any new bans, but he won’t life the existing bans.
Since this issue is important to you, you must know the specific positions of the candidates. I’ve been trying to get some answers, maybe you could help me. What are the positions of the major candidates on these three issues?
1) overturning the ban on machine guns?
2) overturning “gun free school zones”
The "Brown Bess" it was the best available the year of it's design, 1704.
So what Romney wants is to reserve the definitions to himself and the gun confiscators, and take it away from the Constitution,...The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
BTTT
1) overturning the ban on machine guns?
2) overturning gun free school zones
There's only two issues there, but anyway the point isn't who is working to overturn anything. Someone that ABSOLUTELY ISN'T going to sign any new bans is FAR greater then someone who would consider signing new bans.
Oh and FYI, machine guns aren't banned. They are only very expensive.
I believe that Bush agreed to sign a renewal of the AWB in order to appease the ignorant and that he worked behind the scenes to insure that no AWB renewal reached his desk. In selecting Roberts and Alito I believe that Bush HAS worked toward lifting the infringements on all arms.
From what I have been able to learn, Hunter and Thompson would nominate Supreme Court Justices who understand that the Founders intended NO LIMITATIONS on ARMS whatsoever.
Romney, even if you believe his most recent statements, would be perfectly happy to nominate people who would outlaw weapons of "unusual lethality". It's a recent invention of Romney to suggest that such a category only includes weapons controlled by the National Firearms Act of 1934.
Romney's stated position is now acceptable to me only because the alternative would be worse. But Romney's credibility is insufficient to earn my vote. I haven't a clue what Romney actually believes the Second Amendment protects. I only know that he is saying what he believes is needed to be nominated.
I'm thankful that I never voted for Arnold in Kalifornia, especially now that he has signed several bills which infringe my right to keep and bear arms. There is no way that I would put my self in the position of regretting a Romney vote.
“The problem is that liars often lie by ommission or mis definition. Below is pictured an “assault rifle”....”
I personally am very good with a bayonet, I set up my first bayonet dummy at about age nine using an old WWI Mauser and about an 18” bayonet
It turns out that my body grew into a type that just always felt natural with it even in the Army. In my home I want to move down the hall with a short rifle and a bayonet, it all fits my unique, personal strengths in a hand to hand situation.
The rifle you show has the bayonet lug, which puts it on Romney’s list.
Mitt Romney, the next POTUS!
Which puts Romney on another list.
“Which puts Romney on another list.”
LOL, no kidding.
That's where I write off Romney.
Sorry, but that "very liberal state" elected Mitt Romney. That same "very liberal state" that constantly re-elects Ted Kennedy, John F'n Kerry, Barney Frank, Edward Markey, and Bill Delahunt, and hasn't sent a Republican to Washington DC in over a decade, elected Mitt Romney. Of 40 Massachusetts state senators, 5 are Republicans. Of 160 members of the state House, 19 are Republicans. But Massachusetts elected Mitt Romney?
If those idiots wanted him, I don't.
