I think I need to find a new planet
Big old “DUH” there guys.
WE got 3 inches of snow a couple of years ago. It took me 3 hrs to get 10 miles. Every road out of Mt. Juliet, TN was blocked by accidents. I counted 36 cars and SUVs off the road and many upside down. More than 3/4 of them were 4WD vehicles. They just figured if they use 4WD they can do 70 MPH.
1 inch of snow in TN will shut a city and roadways down.
You should see what a prediction of flurries will do to a Kroger
Maybe the campaign is geared towards new arrivals from South of the border who may have limited experience with freezing precipitation on roadways.
They cancelled school at least once the last two years because they were PREDICTING snow.... it never snowed.
You would think people in northern Ohio would remember that ice and snow are slippery. You can always tell the first slippery day since a lot of the STOP signs are flattened by people sliding into them.
fer a laff
LOL!
In eastern Iowa, we had 3” of snow yesterday and 7” two days before. Of course, nothing shut down.
Ice and snow. Quattro.
There is so much of this nanny state talk everywhere I look on the news. Turn on the local news and the newsreader is telling viewers to be sure to dress warm today. The local weatherperson gives out more warnings than the forecast during their 45 second slot. The national news are also bitten by the bug of nannyisms. “If you are at home, stay there”, “It’ll be slick out there in the morning so watch yourselves”, “Know what brakes you have and practice, very carefully”.
I’ve had it with this attempt by the media to hand hold the public. It has gotten to the point where it is starting to effect my daily thoughts about going outside and that is serious!
People in Tennessee don’t know how to deal with snow.
We really, really don’t. :p
I thought it wasn’t supposed to snow due to Global Warming. Reverand Al Gore said Global Warming is here.
I am confused now since the NY Times said that Reverand Al Gore’s claims are bogus.
And what do you suppose the taxpayers of TN shell out annually to Mr. Nicely for his expertice in transportation matters such as this?
“And don’t forget boys and girls; when it gets cold outside, bundle up nice and warm. And don’t forget your mittens. You don’t want to catch a cold.”
More Tennesseans on Ice ...
We had about 172 flakes today.
This evening, 20 cars piled up on 840 and 65.
The good news is, when it snows here in Tennessee, the next day it’s 70 degrees! We only have two seasons, Summer and February.
In Bflo, 70,000 folks went to an outdoor NHL game in snowstorm.
It was great.
