Did he officially edge out McCain for 3rd? I thought there were still some precincts out?

If yes, how many votes did he beat McCain by?

I hope this will be a wake-up call for Fred to get serious about the race, and for the misguided conservatives who were backing Romney because he was a “winner”. Limited Government Reagan conservatives need to galvanize around the only real conservative with foreign policy experience and stop Huckabee before it’s too late. This is going to be evangelicals vs. everyone else.

FRED did very well considering the dirty underhanded games some in the GOP have been playing. Fred isn’t going anywhere and the Politico has lost “ALL” credibility after the lies they printed.

The question is: Who is the Politico supporting? If the Huckabee bunch is this low down and dirty then the time has come to get the truth out about Huckabee and his liberal governorship.

It looks like 4 are still out. Fred is currently ahead but it looks like a tie at 13%.

No, evangelicals are the least divided. Huckabee overwhelmingly carries the evangelical vote.
It’s the Limited Government Reagan conservatives that are divided, and if they remain divided in the face of united evangelicals then Huckabee will be the nominee.

Tonights results are somewhat disappointing. Hopefully Fred will be able to hang on until the southern states are heard from and/or republicans come to their senses and start thinking about a candidate who can actually win against Hillary or Obama.

The irony is that Fred has a much greater chance of winning the general election than does Huckabee.
Huckabee is the democrats ‘dream candidate.
Hillary and Obama have a lot of negatives but republicans can still hand them a win if they run Huckabee or McCain.

I think the bogus story did hurt Fred. But 3rd is okay and I think Huckabee will go the way of Pat Robertson after he won Iowa. We just need to Keep Fred in the race until Huckabee fizzles out.

FRed HAS been serious about this campaign. Don’t know how you’ve missed how he’s been hitting every large town in Iowa and spreading the conservative gospel - coming away with scads of converts who appreciate his blunt yet honest answers. He told a lady complaining about lack of Fed money for an abortion clinic that the Federal government has no business killing babies and she should take that up with her local government.

Thompson is testing the constituents with the time-honored style of meet & greet while pulling no punches. Too bad that the Mainstream Press swoons at the merest whiff of testosterone.

So if Fred can hold to a respectable 3rd place in Iowa after all the polls have closed, Fred would be right were he wanted and predicted ?

or it could spell the end of it. It never really go off the ground, then again, neither did his enthusiasm.

As long as you continue to buy into all the "fire in the belly"-related articles about Thompson in the lamestream media, that is.

Fred hasn’t been serious about the campaign.
He needs to stop talking about how he doesn’t have a desire to be president or campaign and put out the message that he’s in it to win, and he’s going to fight hard all the way until November.

You may think it’s honorable and what not, but it doesn’t play well out there. Republicans want to win. Mostly they don’t want Hillary Clinton to be president. GOP voters are very sensitive to concerns about having another candidate who doesn’t really want to take the fight to the Clintons and lets them waltz right back into the White House uncontested yet again.
