SWAT officers invade home, take 11-year-old at gunpoint
WND ^ | Jan 7, 2008 | Bob Unruh

Nearly a dozen members of a police SWAT team in western Colorado punched a hole in the front door and invaded a family's home with guns drawn, demanding that an 11-year-old boy who had had an accidental fall accompany them to the hospital, on the order of Garfield County Magistrate Lain Leoniak. The boy's parents and siblings were thrown to the floor at gunpoint and the parents were handcuffed in the weekend assault, and the boy's father told WND it was all because a paramedic was upset the family preferred to care for their son themselves. Someone, apparently the unidentified paramedic, called police, the sheriff's office and social services, eventually providing Leoniak with a report that generated the magistrate's court order to the sheriff's office for the SWAT team assault on the family's home in a mobile home development outside of Glenwood Springs, the father, Tom Shiflett, told WND.

Here’s a couple of good ones I just remembered, both happened in the past couple of months, separate incidents different states. Two kids whose families I am friends with fell and banged her heads. Both kids were taken to the hospital and and were checked out and released by the staff.

Both kids lost appetite, slept a lot and went back to the hospital two days later and were found to have suffered mild concussions.

“You want to see Colorado shut down?”

I Love Colorado but any state that allows this to happen is quite dangerous to the rest of us. These kinds of things don’t happen overnight or because of one person. Its a systemic problem that allows people like the judge and sheriff to get in power and then stay in power.

So yes, I think it needs to be a significant impact.

The only way these tyrannical abuses of power will ever end is when the public outcry becomes greater than the resisting forces. It’s going to take, at a minimum, a legal crisis to accomplish that.

Have we seen an article about this story yet? Other than WND's, I mean. The Post Independent is a daily, maybe they'll mention the incident this week.

A presumptuous speculation. [that there may be more to WND's story]

Sometimes (almost always) stories are written to appeal the readers and tug at their heartstrings. It’s always best to read for the facts, not the emotions.

Hospitals are full of sick people, bacteria, viruses and can cost you the arm and leg the hospital didn’t accidentally cut off. Anyone let alone children should not be exposed to a hospital unnecessarily.

They should be thankful that ther weren’t shot or gassed, I suppose.

The disturbing part, again just my opinion, is that there are more than a few on this forum that see nothing wrong with actions such as this by l.e.

“Question, who pays the hospital bill?”

Mom and Dad most likely. Either that or tax dollars.

An article which paints Christian home schoolers being assaulted by a swat team in their own home for no other reason than being good parents? It not worthy of MSM reporting standards or any news outlet owned by MSM news.

>>>>You’re most likely right. Its not up to them, but look what they are made to look like when they come in under such false auspices.

Of course. It takes the focus off of the paramedic and the magistrate. There has to be some recourse for the false pretense of this action.

Dad says he’s going to sue and I hope he sets the taxpayers back by millions.

And this will help the situation exactly how? Just exactly how is screwing someone who had nothing to do with it going to rein in the JBTs?

If I were living in Colorado, I’d be checking to make sure I don’t have an library books that are overdue!

Because that is the only way something will change. Our government used to do things because it was the right thing to do. I don’t see much of that anymore. Now ‘policy’ is always quoted.

Police don't need warrants for 2 different exigent circumstances, that is hot pursuit and a medical emergency.

Medical emergency is a stretch here and seems more to me to be an exploited loophole.

See #45,

We are all guilty of allowing this to happen and will will all suffer the price when the tyranny becomes unbearable.

So if Joe Smith (the government) is constantly vandalizing your property, your going out and extorting money from Bob Jones (the taxpayer) is going to make Smith stop? Just exactly how does this work?

The cops are trained to follow orders, even if the orders come from a nazi administration. The cops can’t ever question. They do what they are told. It never enters a cop’s mind to say “what the **** am I doing here? this is a child and I have guns”. No. Cop mind is on automatic pilot. Engage gun. Disengage mind.

That’s why the administration that sent them there is to blame. Obviously the EMT told them that this was a bunch of bible fanatics. Immediately the administration went ballistic.

Change this to the death cult and the administration would have done nothing.

Perhaps WND will update their coverage, and at least let us know what month this happened. Hell, maybe even the year.

It not worthy of MSM reporting standards or any news outlet owned by MSM news.
