LOS ANGELES - Illegal immigrants in Los Angeles County during November collected more than $37 million in welfare and food stamp allocations, up $3 million from September, 5th District Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich said in his monthly announcement of the Department of Public Social Services' accounting of how much it pays out to illegal U.S. residents. Through their citizen children, illegal immigrants collected $20 million in welfare payments for November and more than $16 million in food stamps, according to Department of Public Social Services statistics released by Antonovich's office. Twenty five percent of the county's welfare and food stamps benefits is going directly to the children of illegal immigrants, Antonovich's office said.

How much illegal immigrants collect in services compared to what they pay in taxes is a hotly debated issue nationwide.

The Center for Immigration Studies in a 2004 study said households headed by illegal immigrants used $10 billion more in federal government services than they paid in taxes in 2002.

The center said the Social Security and Medicare programs get a net benefit from households headed by illegal immigrants: Those two programs take in $7 billion a year more than the payout to them.

Why are men required to declare themselves at age 18 to the Selective Service?

I have a friend who was born in Canada, whose US parents didn’t understand that citizenship required the girl to do something by age 18 to declare her citizenship in the US.

What did she have to do? Was she not a citizen until then?

If she wasn’t, I would say these illegals are on much more tenuous ground than otherwise thought, as long as the kids aren’t here as of age 18.

Selective Service requires all male citizens, and resident green card holders to register for selective service at age 18.

Failure results in denial of citizenship application.

That should take care of half the illegals straight away.

Oh please, this is far too logical. Our own government subverts our laws...in order to become a citizen you have to pass an English language proficiency test...yet we print ballots in literally dozens of foreign languages...

Mike is a close friend of mine.

He grew up in L.A. City but for the last 40+ years has lived in Glendale.

His district as a County Supervisor encoumpases the foothill communities and Palmdale/Lancaster and doesn’t include any of the corrupt City of Los Angeles.

Dang. I was hoping that the supervisor was from a landscaping or construction company. And that the “costs” were due to fines when they were found to be using illegals. Hopefully one of these days this will happen.

When the pro illegals claim illegals use services less than American citizens, they are counting anchor babies as American citizens. Every chance I get I point that out to the pro invaders. They really hate it.

I actually heard someone on the radio the other day arguing that illegals can’t get government benefits.

I saw a “citizen” in the bank yesterday with a Colorado driver’s license that had to have a translator to conduct his business. It ain’t your grand-daddy’s America anymore.

They are all collecting! They are taught how to do it when they get here.

I have cousins born in Canada of a US-citizen mother and Canadian father.
IIRC, by age 18, one chose to be a Canadian subject and the other two
chose to become USA citizens.
I don’t know the mechanics of when the decision was made or if it
was required.
Or if there was a “default” assignment (e.g., just assigned to citizenship
to the country they were born in).

But I do know that the one male cousin (one that became USA citizen)...
one of his first acts on moving permanently to the USA (at age 18
or 19, IIRC), was to sign with the Selective Service.
