The Iranians claim a lot of things. Even if it were true- How many boats do they have? Loading them with enough explosives to damage a destroyer would slow them considerably and ruin their maneuverability. A massed attack would easily be detected from a distance eliminating the element of surprise and giving time to man on board weapons/get air support. It would be a watery equivalent to the “highway of death”. Not to mention a direct act of war by the Iranian govt.
