Video: Rush Limbaugh on Fred’s “Stellar Performance”

Posted on January 11th, 2008
By Sean Hackbarth in Debates, Video

Rush Limbaugh talked about last night’s debate. Fred, being the winner, took up a good portion of his talk.

Here’s some of the transcript:

THOMPSON: Governor Huckabee’s campaign manager said it accurately in terms of what they believe. They believe that it is over. This is a battle for the heart and soul of the Republican Party and its future. On the one hand, you have a Reagan revolution; you have the Reagan coalition of limited government, and strong national security. On the other hand, you have the direction that Governor Huckabee would take us in. He would be a Christian leader, but he would also bring about liberal economic policies, liberal foreign policies.

RUSH: And, you know, now, this was unique. This has not happened to date in Republican debates with a Republican calling another Republican a liberal. And this is why Fred was considered to be on fire. He continued.

THOMPSON: He believes we have an arrogant foreign policy in the tradition of blame-America first. He believes that Guantanamo should be closed down and those enemy combatants brought here to the United States to find their way into the court system eventually. He believes in taxpayer funded programs for illegals, as he did in Arkansas. He has the endorsement of the National Education Association, and the NEA said it was because of his opposition to vouchers. He said he would sign a bill that banned smoking nationwide. So much for federalism, so much for state’s rights, so much for individual rights. That’s not the model of the Reagan coalition. That’s the model of the Democratic Party.

RUSH: Where has this been? Everybody is asking, “Where has this been,” besides on this program? Where has this been in the context of the Republican debates? When I got home from dinner last night and started checking e-mail both from friends and just others, it was just shy of orgasmic — there was so much excitement and happiness, and people were also frustrated, where’s this been? Fred’s finally come alive. This is an annunciation of the conservative agenda that has not been present in their debates before, and everybody has known, a lot of people have known it’s there. It just hasn’t surfaced. So now, because of Fred’s stellar performance last night — I should say Senator Thompson’s stellar performance, guess what’s happening? It’s predictable. The Drive-Bys, media commentators, the pundits who ought to be so ashamed of blowing New Hampshire as badly as they did, they shouldn’t be able to show their face, they suffer no embarrassment whatsoever, they are saying it’s too little, too late. We had two states. We had the Hawkeye Cauci; we’ve had New Hampshire. We had two states. It’s too late? Fred doesn’t have a chance? Just wait ’til we get to these states where there are full-fledged conservative Republicans, not like New Hampshire, where McCain won the election with Democrats and independents. Mitt Romney got a majority of the Republican vote in New Hampshire. But the Republicans, in a Republican primary, were outnumbered by Democrats and independents.

I totally agree. It is refreshing that he remembers and has a clear internal compass where conservatism is concerned. These other guys may have conservatism in a special mix but they don’t think it and they don’t feel it. How in the hell does a conservative with conservative principles speak so much like John Edwards as does Huckabee? How does a conservative have a Health Care plan that is virtually identical to Hillary’s as does Mitt Romney? I don’t think I need to even talk about Rudy and McCain. Two words Cross Dressing and Gang of 14 are enough I think. I suppose with McCain cross dressing would have been enough also given his seeming desire in the past to dress up in liberal drag.

You are not alone WildWeasel as my wife and I are also supporting Fred here in Oklahoma. We usually vary somewhat on politics, but not this time. GO FRED!! Sure nice that now other people are starting to notice Fred. Where have they been?

....And I owe you some! Gotta make another donation early next week. I want Fred to win so badly. Hubby has already donated a couple times, now its my turn! Fred certainly seems the most genuine, but it doesn’t take much for a Southerner to seem more “genuine” than Yankees! LOL! Except for Jimmy Carter, that is. (Jimmy needs to go back to charm school.)

I’d pay to see Fred debate that bunch of Rats. He’d wipe the smirk right off their smug self-satisfied faces. They’d go in feeling all full of their superiority, and he’d pull the rug right out from under them.

Mr Hunter just doesn’t have enough name recognition, now if he takes a high profile job during this next Republican administration, He’ll have it made for the next time he chooses to run for President!

Yes I know the feeling. I have never wanted anyone to win so badly. It has been forever since we have had anyone who was a thought first conservative.

I’ll tell you what I would like to see and that is a one on one debate between FRED and McCain. Let’s talk immigration step by step...each plan. Let’s talk increasing the size of the military step by step...each plan. Let’s talk Conservatism step by step (and how each one’s vote aligns with Conservatism)...each in their own words.

That, I would like to see. Against a DemocRAT, I would pay good money to see that...actually, that is what I have been paying good money to see. FRED against Hillary! Now that would be one hell of a debate!

“Fred’s dead” (Charlie Krauthammer and the Special Report gang).

Charles might be starting to smell the coffee. After telling his viewers that Fred is dead two days ago he said today that Fred has a chance.

I will be voting, right along with y’all, here in Okie land. I don’t think there is any way Iowa or New Hampshire could decide the GOP candidate. For one thing they just don’t have the populations. Personally, though, I get awfully tired of hearing about them!

Krauthammer was hilarious.

He said something like, (I won’t use quotes) I’m Jewish but have now begun to believe in Resurrection.

I have heard nothing about this. Romney would basically “own” all the radio talk shows on Clear Channel?? How could someone like this run for President? Isn’t there a conflict of interest? Why did Cheney have to DIVEST of Halliburton stock?

Clear Channel is the one place we have left. Why can’t Romney buy one of the major networks, and have a conservative viewpoint to the news? Oh wait, I forgot, he’s not conservative.

It doesn’t matter, it really doesn’t, Fred is still going to need every single vote. Even if he doesn’t need them to meet some goal, they still are very much needed.
Everyone keep talking to all your friends, family, coworkers, anyone who shows an interest in a “conservative candidate”. We really aren’t getting much notoriety for Fred otherwise from the MSM!
