The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows John McCain opening a growing lead in the race for the Republican Presidential Nomination. It’s McCain 24%, Mike Huckabee 19%, Mitt Romney 16%, Fred Thompson 13%, and Rudy Giuliani at 9%. Ron Paul attracts 3% support (see recent daily numbers). Expectations that McCain will be the GOP nominee have increased significantly over the past week.

In Michigan, McCain and Romney hold the early lead in the upcoming Primary. McCain is enjoying a modest bounce in South Carolina and he now holds a narrow lead over Huckabee in the Palmetto State’s GOP Primary.

In the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination, it’s now Clinton 39%, Barack Obama 35% and John Edwards 14% (see recent daily numbers). Obama continues to hold a double digit lead over Clinton in the South Carolina Democratic Primary.

“Fred Thompson 13%”

He’s up a bit. if Mclame stumbles in MI AND Fred takes 1st or second in So. Carolina, Fred will be the next “front-runner.”

If McLame becomes the nominee and somehow becomes President, he will make President Bush look more conservative then Reagan.

McLame will even make Ted Kennedy look like a conservative.

I guess people got a look at the other candidates, saw how weak the field was, and went back to McCain.

I can’t blame them, I wanted to give the others a chance but they all had a unique set of flaws that I couldn’t handle. McCain is the best we got, which is not a bad thing. He’s a real american hero with real convictions, some of which have led to his being on the opposite side of his own party. That I can look past. I’ll most likely be voting for him in february.

Except for Thompson, as I said in another post...but I see him going nowhere fast.

Obama continues to hold a double digit lead over Clinton in the South Carolina Democratic Primary.

If this will stay like that until the actual votes are counted it is going to be very interesting to see how the pollsters and the media will explain yet another surprise Clinton victory.

;-)

Folks here can say what they want about McCain - and I have my problems with him too - but polls show he has the best shot at beating Clinton or Obama. Thompson, on the other hand, has the worst chance.

The Fox All-Stars were discussing why the other candidates didn’t really attack McCain in the last debate, and someone (probably Fred Barnes) thought it was that they basically like him, and he is their second choice...whereas none of them like Romney. I don’t know if that is a personality thing or they are mad at his negative ads, or the unfair advantage given by his unlimited resources.

It’s in the W column for McCain.

I’ve said from the beginning that he is the chosen one.

God Help us!

Obama or The Witch would easily defeat that old man. McCain would split the Republican Party, and the Rats would kill him with his Keating Five connection.

McCain is NO HERO! At best he is a survivor.

He will stab the American people in the back every chance that he gets.

On top of that, he is too old, and has had Magliant Melanoma twice. The odds of recurrence is about 100 to 1.

It would be nice to get some fresh SC numbers (since the debate). Hopeful that Fred has gotten a nice bump there.

It’s funny but Fred’s fundraising for SC really started to take off on Thursday afternoon about the time he was on Hannity. It then really took off after the debates later that evening and he ended up beating his goal by nearly 50% or $803,000 vs $540,000. If SC doesn’t work it’s all over with.

What a friggin joke.

I agree! Just look at McLames record:

Has done serious damage to freedom of speech (McLame/Feingold).

Supports amnesty.

Does not support tax cuts. He voted against all Bush tax cuts. At that time he said the reason was he could not vote for tax cuts for the rich (sound familiar?). Now he says he voted against them because they were not accompanied by spending cuts. That brings me to the next point:

McLame is a LIAR.

Keep in mind Mensius, we have a lot of dim trolls working on this site. Some are obvious and thrown out. Others are a bit harder to pick out. But eventually, they just cannot help themselves and their liberals tendencies come through.

Check that fundraising total, it’s still growing. I thought last night at midnight that particular drive was over with. He’s now at $815,000, over 50% above the goal.

That’s a bit unfair. That’s what some people here said about Fred because of his lymphoma.

Actually, lymphoma in remission is quite different than melanoma. Melanoma is one of the deadliest.
