LAS VEGAS Nevadas state teachers union and six Las Vegas area residents filed a lawsuit late Friday that could make it harder for many members of the states huge hotel workers union to vote in the hotly contested Jan. 19 Democratic caucus in Nevada.
The 13-page lawsuit in federal district court here comes two days after the 60,000-member Culinary Workers Union Local 226 in Nevada endorsed Senator Barack Obama, a blow to Mrs. Clinton. Mr. Obama addressed the Culinary Union at their hall earlier Friday.
The lawsuit argues that the Nevada Democratic Partys decision, decided late last year, to create at-large precincts inside nine Las Vegas resorts on caucus day violates the states election laws and creates a system in which voters at the at-large precincts can elect more delegates than voters at other precincts. The lawsuit employs a complex mathematical formula to show that voters at the other 1,754 precincts would have less influence with their votes.
The at-large precincts are being established because thousands of hotel workers cannot leave work to participate in the midday caucuses in their home precincts. The Nevada State Education Association has said it would not endorse any Democrat, but some of its top officials have endorsed Mrs. Clinton. The associations deputy executive director, Debbie Cahill, for instance, was a founding member of Senator Clintons Nevada Womens Leadership Council.
Nobody from the either union could be reached for comment late Friday. One plaintiff, Vicky Birkhead of North Las Vegas referred questions to the plaintiffs attorneys, who also could not be reached.

DISENFRANCHISEMENT! VOTE SUPPRESSION!
Oh wait, that’s unpossible. These are Democrats. Never mind.
When it comes right down to it the Democrats don’t want people to vote.
Oh, this is priceless! Liberals suing to “disenfranchise” their own voters, many of them minorities! Get the popcorn!
This has got to backfire.
They must have a sympathetic judge picked out. The Nevada Democrat party can determine how they want their selection process to work. The plaintiffs can’t win, but a judge could get a restraining order long enough to make it moot. remember, Dingy Harry has endorsed Her Thighness.
There, fixed it .....
Communists/ Hitlerites. Isn't socialism wondefull?
I hope the Obama camp raises hell over this.
It seems to be even richer than that ... one union, the NEA, dictating how another union, the Culinary Workers, must vote!
Love the site of a RAT knife fight!
And this is just the beginning. The level of voter fraud, deceit, and malevolence in the upcoming POTUS campaign is just going to increase exponentially in coming months. Election 2000 will seem like it was a walk in the park by the time 2008 is over
I don’t really understand why the legislature or courts of would have anything to say about the rule a private party has for determining who represents it. If Dims want to give blacks two votes in every caucus or even primary it is there business, isn’t it? I guess one could make an argument elections are held using state officials and monies. A caucus really seems to be a pure private matter held on private property by private individuals.
and being paid for with union dues.
The Democratic party has become such a joke that only willful blindness explains a failure to realize this.

The Dems just have all kinds of schemes....
