Since we endorsed Fred Thompson on Friday, Human Events has had a huge reaction overwhelmingly positive to the editorial from our readers all across the country. Here are some excerpts from the nearly 500 (and counting) comments:
Human Events made the right choice. Now conservatives everywhere are counting on the good people of South Carolina to do the same, Kelly S., Florida.
Great editorial endorsement. Many conservatives are always trying to distinguish themselves among other conservatives with labels; a Reaganite conservative, a Kirkean traditionalist, etc. This endorsement showed me why I am definitely more of a Human Events conservative than an NR conservative. Of the six real contenders in the race (including Paul but excluding Hunter who doesnt have a prayer), Thompson is clearly the best choice. Andrew C., New Jersey
Human Events has made a loyal reader out of an interloper (me) with the endorsement of Thompson. He is the most reliable conservative in the race. GPM, Florida.
I applaud Human Events for endorsing the ONLY consistent conservative in this race. Every other candidate has gaping holes. Michael G., Arizona
Good call Human Events. It is good to see conservatives beginning to wake up to the Principled Conservative, Fred Thompson. Mark, Oregon
I have said all along, even before the campaign started, that Fred Thompson is the man we need in the White House. He is plain spoken, he does not mince words, and best of all he IS a true conservative. Your endorsement of him warms my heart. Thanks! Jack C., Texas
We acted on principle, and our readers apparently agree.
We are at $848,890! Together we can win South Carolina!
I made a new donation just a bit ago. We’re going for a million, folks!
I jumped in at 650 yesterday.
BUMP
He is without a doubt the conservative saviour we have been looking for. He is against the bad parts of McCain Feingold he co-sponsored, and I think that speaks to his presidentialness. He quit the Council on Foreign Relations too soon. I think he could have run the whole thing if he had stayed and besides his wife is hotter than Huckleberry’s LOL.
What’s the matter? Can’t you find an “I love the Huckster” thread here at FR to post on? Maybe you should head on over the Camp Hucakbee website to find some friends.
I made another donation yesterday in honor of Rush Limbaugh’s birthday! His bday is actually today, so there is still time for more ‘gifts’ to Rush! lol
however the DBM is still pushing to write off thompson by setting expectations as a do or die. The DBM give a 1hour spin of positive and a 24 hour after that negative spin as the meme goes out.
We also have to deal with FOURTH TIER candidates who refuse to see reality.
With all due respect to you, and all due disrespect to the DBM, Fred himself has set up South Carolina as his "do or die" state by "drawing a line in the sand" there.
I love your sense of humor! I bet your cute too! ;-)
Vote for Fred in South Carolina next Saturday.
Huckabee talks like a Democrat and that is enough for me. I don’t want another Governor from Arkansas. Those who can’t see a good honest man who believes in rock hard conservative/federalist principles vote for those saviors they deserve. Fred isn’t a savior but then again he has never claimed to be one, it is the others who offer themselves up as the savior of the common man. They will save them from their own money even. Fred began a common man and that is something the others would be hard pressed to say.
If Fred is the nominee, I will vote for him. his supporters, however are some of the rudist people I have ever seen. Makes you wonder.
They have a low tolerance for the disingenous and the unpricipled.
I appreciate the hep. Usen Hucklebearys ain’t gude at da buk lurnin. ;)
Would your wife approve of your comment?
This is politics, not playboy.
