The LAPD's SIS unit kicks a$$!
While Kimber Arms seems to just be using this as a marketing ploy, if the SIS detectives endorsed this new pistol, then I might consider buying one...
The new SIS family of pistols was designed in cooperation with LAPD SSI Detectives for their duty carry. Slides and frames are machined from stainless steel.

"a gun company is marketing a line of high-end pistols named for the LAPD's Special Investigation Section, an elite group of plainclothes detectives with a history of fatally shooting suspects. They say that like it is a bad thing.

... so it’s just a jiggered-up .45, isn’t it?

Yeah...I think so.
I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the Colt 1911 .45 ACP, but that’s because I’m nostalgic...

Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s bad. There isn’t enough info in the article to ascertain which was most often the case.

wow. that is beautiful! the “SIS” is a little cheesy though, IMHO. does the SIS really carry .45’s?
To: DogByte6RER
Anything Kimber makes is good, but I don’t see anything so special about this one, other than a few more bells and whistles.
As far as the “outraged” lefties, they’re just displaying their ignorance. Somebody needs to publicly tell them how stupid they look when they can’t tell one gun from another. The police chief made a good start, but the LA media probably won’t report it.

I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the Colt 1911 .45 ACP, but thats because Im nostalgic...If I had bought one of those first, rather than among the most recent, I would have many many fewer guns. Or (Most likely) they all would have been .45 variants. While some of my 9's like the Sig 226 are truly superb, I just find myself shooting them less and less, and reloading .45 in thousand round batches. (Progressive Loader/Brass Waterfall).

Sometimes it is. Not all “suspects” are guilty. Some may be very innocent.
To: DogByte6RER
WOW, I trained with the Kimber Arms LAPD SWAT version built on a tight 1911 frame. Sweet smooth weapon. They are very hard to procure by the public.

Can these city and civil rights leaders tell me what criminal would subject themself to a background check, then purchase one of these for over $1000?
