Here is one of the photos in question (lifted from the forum). No Ford logos in sight:
Ford also got a pic of a black Dodge Charger taken down by claiming that it was their IP. It didn't have any Ford logos on it either.
Sorry to hear Ford is doing that. I have a couple fords and they are great cars.
“As a rule, companies don’t like doing crap like this and taking the resultant PR hickey. But, if they don’t take steps to defend their trademark, they are at risk of losing the exclusive rights to it.”
Exactly. Sad but true....
Exactly!
I take part in a watch forum: http://www.network54.com/Forum/78440/
People post pictures of watches all the time - and buy & sell them regularly as well. The owner of the forum sells watches, but he encourages support to other merchants as well...kind of ‘a rising tide raises all the boats’ approach.
This sort of enthusiasm for products - Seiko watches, Ford, or anything else - can only be GOOD for the folks doing the selling.
But then, Ford also built my Explorer with the cracked rear body panel (no recall although they say it is very common) and grinding rear differential (no recall, although they say it happens all the time).
I get the feeling Ford isn’t serious about selling cars...
In the interest of full disclosure, we own three Fords and I love each and every one of them.
LOL. Ford Motor Company has obviously lost it. What legal geek at Corporate came up with this? What a way to kill a business...lol.
We don’t need the Chinese, the Indians or any other international competitor to destroy American business, they are doing that all on their own.
That's correct, it wouldn't and the twits they hired to handle their legal are just causing the co. harm and money. Looks like they're looking to hit a free fall in the market.
The last Fords bought in this family were Pintos.
Ford can do what it likes to its customers; I've seen Ford quality upfront and it stinks to high heaven. My much less expensive Honda (car) of the same era was better built and more durable.
I’m going to buy a Ford vehicle now and send Ford Motor Company’s lawyers on the city whenever one of their red light or speed trap cameras takes a picture of my car. < /sarcasm >
Check out this stupidity.
Oh, c'mon, those lawyers paid a good 100K plus for their education. They must know what they're doing.
There are better ways to do it. GM and Chrysler have a much better way of doing it - they leave you alone if you are small or non-commercial. If your club grows (or you contact them first), they send someone to check your website to make sure there’s nothing offensive there that could be linked to their brand (this specifically does not include criticism of their cars, they’ve been known to let forums like “General Motors Blows” have a license) and then they license you to use the appropriate logos and names and such at no charge. Nissan has an even simpler policy - as long as you are not using their IP for commercial or defamatory or fraudulent purposes, they just don’t care and they may even help you.
Ford is the only company that does this sort of stupidity.
So I guess this means no more calendars with photos of restored classic Model A’s and T’s? I drove a great Ford 4X4 truck for nearly 20 years, but I will never but another Ford product after reading this article.
Ford just jumped two sharks.
Send Ford a message ...

The frame in the Toyota trucks is nowhere near as beefy as the Ford (we studied in depth prior to the purchase of our last pickup). Check it out if you need your truck to be tough. We also found out that a very high executive in ‘yota distribution in the U.S. has 20 or so pickups on his ranch — they are all F250’s.
If it did appear, was it accompanied by "Registered trademark of the Ford Motor Company, used by permission", or some such disclaimer?
There's certainly nothing legally objectionable to the photo you posted.
No, it did not appear as a design element in either of the calendars.
