WALLACE: And what about Mitt Romney? And I've got to ask you the question, because it is a question whether it should be or not in this campaign, is a Mormon a true Christian?
OSTEEN: Well, in my mind they are. Mitt Romney has said that he believes in Christ as his savior, and that's what I believe, so, you know, I'm not the one to judge the little details of it. So I believe they are. And so, you know, Mitt Romney seems like a man of character and integrity to me, and I don't think he would - anything would stop me from voting for him if that's what I felt like.

And that, good sir, is one reason I won’t be debating here. It’s been done ad naseum. I only post this because Olsteen is pretty big and influential in the evangelical community.
Have fun with this yall!

LOL. Not sure if you were trying to be funny, but that was good. I needed a good laugh this morning. :)

Can we be above the pettiness of what is a real Christian and what isn't? We are choosing a President, not a religious figurehead.

So why didn't you post it on the religion forum then?
Food fights are normal and allowed there.

Because, as Wallace so aptly puts it in his question to Olsteen, it’s political, wither we like it or not.
As one who shares Mitt’s faith, I am amazed at just how far this “Mormon threat” has riled everyone up. When Mitt’s dad was running for prez, it wasn’t even an issue. He governed 3 terms in Michigan, never an issue. Mitt's faith was not an issue in Mass. The Religious right of the GOP is a relatively modern movement, and frankly, have hijacked the Republicans for several election cycles. I, for one am getting tired of it.

Edit: Moderator, please remove previous post, my browser is being dumb.
Yes, because Mr. Watered-down-feel-good-faith Olsteen would know the difference between a real Christian and a fake one.

I, like Olsteen would prefer to let Christ be our judge. Kudos to him for having the guts to say it, and let the chips fall where they may.
I’m out. Have a great Sabbath everyone!
