Following the lead of New York City and Brookline, health regulators in Boston last night took the first step toward banning artery-clogging trans fat from French fries, doughnuts, and other food sold in restaurants and corner stores. more stories like this

The Boston Public Health Commission voted unanimously, after little discussion, to give preliminary approval to a ban that would take effect late this year if it receives another thumbs-up in the spring. Commission members were spurred to action by scientific evidence linking artificial trans fat to heart disease in humans and to diabetes and obesity in animal studies. Brookline approved a similar ban last May.

But of course they won't attack the TRUE culprits of the presence of trans fats in the food chain - the Center for Science in the Public Interest, a Rockefeller front group who also says "salt is a deadly poison and needs to be banned," when LIFE ITSELF depends on salt in moderation. Too little salt is just as deadly as too much salt.

I am sick and tired of these fake liberal rags pimping for these Rockefeller-funded MURDERERS. Michael Jacobson really is like Heinrich Himmler and Joseph Goebbels rolled into one.

While they’re at it, maybe they can prohibit gigantic chunks of public-works projects from crashing down on the cars of private citizens and killing them.

DUNKIN’ DONUTS ANNOUNCES ZERO GRAMS TRANS FAT MENU TO BE AVAILABLE NATIONWIDE BY OCTOBER 15
Baskin-Robbins to Follow Suit by January 1, 2008
CANTON, Mass. (August 27, 2007) — Dunkin’ Donuts today announced that all its menu offerings nationwide will be zero grams trans fat by October 15, 2007. This includes the brand’s signature doughnuts. Doughnuts with zero grams trans fat are currently being served in Philadelphia and New York City. To date, the zero grams trans fat doughnuts have been served in approximately 400 restaurants throughout the country as part of a nationwide blind test over a period of four months.

In addition, Baskin-Robbins’ offerings, including its ice cream inclusions and ribbons will be zero grams trans fat, by January 1, 2008.

“We applaud the Dunkin’ Brands Research & Development and Supply Chain teams, who have worked behind the scenes for nearly four years to move toward an entirely zero grams trans fat menu,” said Joe Scafido, Chief Creative and Innovation Officer at Dunkin’ Brands. “We are proud to be the first major quick service restaurant chain to introduce a doughnut that has zero grams trans fat, and are delighted that customer response to our new doughnuts has been unanimously positive.”

The Dunkin’ Brands Research & Development team has reformulated more than 50 menu items without sacrificing the quality, flavor and taste customers have come to expect. In 2003, the Dunkin’ Brands Research & Development team acted independently to remove artificial trans fat from all muffins and bagels. Since then, the team has tested more than 28 alternative oils and proprietary blends and conducted 80 independent tests to find a suitable alternative.

Why don't they just run the city like an island and feed people according to whatever the bio-readouts indicate they should eat?

Maybe it will put people back to baking and making their own foods where they can use salt and fats at will. Tastes better anyway.

Lemme see, there’s a constitutional right to abortion and gay sex but no right to buy and eat the food you enjoy the most. I guess in the bizarro-world-liberal-universe that makes sense.

Just Please....

....if the food Nazis didn’t ban lard for frying years ago, they wouldn’t have to deal with the far worse trans fat now.

Wasn’t enough to put 700+ business owners and their employees out of business and jobs with the smoking ban in Massachusetts?

Does this mean the Sunset Grill and Tap will have to use LARD to cook its fries?

Bonus!

I live in New Hampshire, but Sunset Grill and Tap, Mr. Bartley’s Burger Cottage and Mike’s Pastries are on my short list whenever I get to Boston.

Good to know Sunset Grill is still around; was a customer circa 1987-1991 (college).
