Indiana Jones meets the Da Vinci Code (Koran a Hoax?)
Asia Times ^ | Jan 15, 2008 | Spengler

Islam watchers blogged all weekend about news that a secret archive of ancient Islamic texts had surfaced after 60 years of suppression. Andrew Higgins' Wall Street Journal report that the photographic record of Koranic manuscripts, supposedly destroyed during World War II but occulted by a scholar of alleged Nazi sympathies, reads like a conflation of the Da Vinci Code with Indiana Jones and the Holy Grail. The Da Vinci Code offered a silly fantasy in which Opus Dei, homicidal monks and twisted billionaires chased after proof that Christianity is a hoax. But the story of the photographic archive of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences, now ensconced in a Berlin vault, is a case of life imitating truly dreadful art.

....The history of the archive reads like an Islamic version of the Da Vinci Code. It is not clear why its existence was occulted for sixty years, or why it has come to light now, or when scholars will have free access to it.

I’m not trying to start an argument here, yes the Bible is an anthology of many works. A lot of Fundamentalists associated with the religion would say otherwise and still treat every single word as a literal interpretation, which is scary in my opinion.

Back to the story, it would unravel the beliefs of Millions if these new books to the Koran were accepted as “real” not that they ever stand a chance of being deemed so, at least by anyone with religious clout. Islam has no religious Hierarchy really, making “experts” or equals to the Pope in Catholicism non existent.

".. "The closest analogue in Christian belief to the role of the Koran in Muslim belief is not the Bible, but Christ." The Koran alone is the revelatory event in Islam.

What if scholars can prove beyond reasonable doubt that the Koran was not dictated by the Archangel Gabriel to the Prophet Mohammad during the 7th century, but rather was redacted by later writers drawing on a variety of extant Christian and Jewish sources? That would be the precise equivalent of proving that the Jesus Christ of the Gospels really was a composite of several individuals, some of whom lived a century or two apart. .."

It will be war! Muslims must supress any evidence that says the Koran has any other source than God and is perfect.

Break belief in the source of the Koran and how it was received and you break Islam. The more serious the evidence the more violent they will get.

To the death. If the Koran story breaks Islam breaks. This is why Isam does not accept criticism.

You Should Be Humiliated

Wonder how fast the Fatwahinese are gonna start issuing death threats over this?

They issue death threats because they are extremely insecure about their faith and deep down harbor nagging doubts about their beliefs.

I agree that it was very entertaining- kept me on the edge of my seat. I was confused about the “proof that Christianity was a hoax.” Wasn’t it the opposite, or did I drink too much pinot grigio during that part?

Half of the Muslim population of the world would revolt upon that person or persons responsible for ruining the good name of Islam, and would probably not rest until death is the result.

That would be bad.

The Koran is Satan’s bible.

That's why Democrats elect Muslims.

Throughout the Internet, Islamist sites denounce the work of a handful of marginalized scholars as evidence of a plot by Christian missionaries to sabotage Islam. What the Muslim world cannot conceal is its vulnerability and fear in the face of Koranic criticism. In the great battle for converts through the Global South, this may turn out to be a paralyzing disadvantage.

LOL! Ain't it the truth! The reason they do not allow Koranic criticism is because they know it's (the koran) a total fabrication and is nothing more than revised Bible stories ( I mean seriously, I believe that according to the koran Adam, Noah and Moses lived at the same time!). They mean to keep those under the thumb of islam ignorant to the Truth because they know if the Truth is told, islam - as a religion - is history.

Big woopee doo, if you think this is going to shake the moslem world you don’t know much about religious faith.

The only thing it might do is enrage them to burn, pillage and kill.

Every Christmas and Easter we are treated to media coverage of “new evidence” that Jesus was a phony and Christians are superstitious idiots following a disproven legend.

I’d like to see the same researchers put some attention into disproving this and reporting their results during an Islamic holy time as recognized in this country.

Y’know to be fair and prove that they don’t just have an agenda against Christians.

The truth won’t put an end to suicidal idiots but it will lower their numbers. Denial isn’t just a river in Africa,it is also a practice that reaches epidemic proportions in a Middle East that has enough sand to bury billions of heads. I bet all the suicide bombers were real disappointed when they arrived in Hell with a box of raisins.

I was looking for a copy of the koran in a book store recently. I found it on the shelf next to Alice in Wonderland.

The koran was written back to front; peaceful to violent; => as Mohammed assembled power as a warlord!!!

Mohammed couldn’t risk offending adjacent tribes, leaders, etc...until he had a state and a standing army.

The Muslim calender begins when Mohammad obtained leadership, stately and that of an army.

The christian calender begins with the birth of Jesus. The Muslim calender celebrates Mohammads reign of tyranny.

This is a good series, sorry it’s long with 12 parts:
