Leahy for Obama
Politico ^ | Jan 17, 2008 | Ben Smith

Posted on 01/17/2008 8:17:55 AM PST by katieanna

Two sources familiar with the senior Vermont senator's plans say Patrick Leahy will be endorsing Obama today in an 11:00 a.m. conference call today.

Leahy's spokesman, David Carle, wouldn't confirm the senator's plans, but did suggest a reporter pay attention to the call, which the Obama campaign is touting as a "major endorsement."

If Leahy endorses as expected, it would be the lastest in a string of Senate validations for Obama, and to the extent that endorsements play a role in voters' decisions, Leahy's -- along with those of Senator John Kerry and others -- could counterbalance charges that the Illinois senator lacks readiness or establishment credibility. Like Kerry, he's also a liberal stalwart and a veteran of battles with the Bush Administration.

UPDATE: "We need a president who can reintroduce America to the world – and actually reintroduce America to ourselves," Leahy said in the conference call, saying Obama carried the "hope" to end the war in Iraq and to bring "healthcare for all."

He also compared the decision to support Obama to supporting John F. Kennedy for president.

Hillary may not be the establishment candidate after all.

Blood on the Senate floor. I love it. The Democrats are Old Mother Hubbard and they got an empty suit and an empty pants suit in the cupboard.

They work day-to-day in the same chamber (as much as any of these clowns actually works) with Obama, Edwards an Her Heiness. Guess that says something.

There must serious doubts about Evita's inevitability.

Perhaps I am too old school, but I think the witch will crush BO like a bug. I suspect that she will be generous and give him the VP slot, as soon as he understands who is boss.

Oh my this is going to leave a mark.

But then again he is from the Peoples Socialist Republic of transplanted Ny-er's of Vermont.

It getting to the point where they are saying:"I don't give a $&!+ what you have on me in my FBI Files..."

Soon it will be: "Help me I'm Melting....."

“There must serious doubts about Evita’s inevitability”

That’s what I’m thinking...

Leahy, Johnson, & Kerry have all worked with Bill’s Wife for the last 7 years, no wonder they are endorsing Obama.

Apparently Hillary Clinton has a lot of senate colleagues who don’t think she’s so great after all.

This is actually a pretty big gamble for some of these Senators. The Clintons keep score and if Hillary does manage to get the nomination and be elected POTUS, there’s going to be some serious payback for these “mavericks”.

That ought to lock up the studdering, doddering, old fool vote for Obama’s side!

What about the Walking Cadavers of the 9/11 commission? Are they going to break for Obama too? And if so, does that mean Hillary is going to get a run for her money in the nation’s cemeteries?

Who do the dead REALLY support? That’s the biggest question in the dem primary, when you think of it.

I was going to say it locked up the folks with dementia and mental illness vote.

What’s happened to our country? Half of our electorate (nearly half, anyway) is certifiably insane.

When did it start? How did it come to this? Was it the Clinton years? The NEA? The media? The drugs of the 60s, 70s and 80s? And 90s, for that matter?

Where oh where have all our countrymen’s brains wandered off to?

They say men pass their prime after age 23 (more or less).
The body can now hang in there until well into the 80’s. The problem is that the mind is constantly in decline and after age 65 (which used to be normal retirement age) people keep on going because they are physically healthy but often the mind doesn’t keep up.
