BOB JOHNSON APOLOGIZES TO OBAMA

Four days after he made an unmistakable allusion to Obama's teenage drug use and even referred to him as Sidney Poitier, Clinton supporter Bob Johnson apologized to Obama for those remarks.

"I'm writing to apologize to you and your family personally for the un-called-for comments I made at a recent Clinton event," Johnson said in a statement. "In my zeal to support Senator Clinton, I made some very inappropriate remarks for which I am truly sorry. I hope that you will accept this apology. Good luck on the campaign trail."

On Sunday at a campaign event for Clinton in South Carolina, Johnson, the founder of BET, said this: "As an African American, I am frankly insulted that the Obama campaign would imply that we are so stupid that we would think Hillary and Bill Clinton, who have been deeply and emotionally involved in black issues, when Barack Obama was doing something in the neighborhood that I won't say what he was doing but he said it in his book... When they have been involved, to say that these two people would denigrate the accomplishment of civil rights marchers, men and women who were hosed, beaten and bled, and some died... To say and to expect us now all of a sudden to say we are attacking a black man. That kind of campaign behavior does not resonate with me or..."

--snip--

At Tuesday's Democratic debate on MSNBC, Clinton said she took Johnson at his word. "Well, Bob has put out a statement saying what he was trying to say and what he thought he had said. We accept him on his word on that."

When NBC's Tim Russert asked whether Johnson's comments were out of bounds, Clinton replied, "Yes, they were. And he has said that."

Well, not until today.

That's the way it has worked in the past. First, the charge, then the apology (repeating the charge), then the firing/retirement (repeating the charge).

Just what exactly did Bill and Hillary do for black people that earned Bob Johnson's loyalty?

And he has the nerve to accuse Obama of being the token house slave of the white man?

I disagree.

He did what needed to be done, got the reaction and after it he gives an "oh, sorry." Planned from the beginning, IMO.

Damage was done and the "high" road now taken after the news cycle ran it for a few days.

Perfect Clintoon M.O. Or atleast Begalia and what's his ogre from Louisiana.

The Democrats seem to be apologizing all over the place. (They have much to apologize for. They haven’t even stratched the surface.)

Why is it so unmentionable? He admitted to snorting cocaine. It’s not like it’s a rumour.

Saying stupid things is a constitutional right.

However, there is no right not to be offended anywhere.

For too long many of us have become convinced of some things related to the Clinton’s that simply aren’t true.

Like ‘they were wildly popular’. The 92 and 96 vote totals show thats simply not the case, never was.

Like ‘The Clinton political machine is frighteningly good!’

Nope, just at the right time, in the right place (Bush Senior’s reversing the tax pledge made Clinton President in a three way race’.

This is another case in point about the vaunted ‘Clinton machine’. Its not very good, unless you have a ‘perfect political storm’ and the MSM going for you.

They don’t have this, in 2008, going for them, as we can see. The only thing they’ve managed to do so far is piss off a significant portion of the black voting base, and reminded every voter in BOTH PARTIES what 1997 and 1998 were like.

Supposedly, he was apologizing for his accusations of drug use/selling by Obama.

What he actually was doing was using this as an opportunity to raise the accusation of drug use/selling by Obama another time.

I don’t think that the Clinton’s have done anything to help. But they do engage in the politics of distortion of the truth. They make those tactics seem legitimate, because they do it with such ease. So maybe for Johnson, the Clinton’s are a role-model of how to stick it to the Republican Party. The Clintons have the Democratic Party machine behind them. The Black Caucus endorsed Hillary. Obviously, they feel the need to do this to survive poltically. Hillary is very evil. Her ability to seduce followers is unparalled in the history of this country. It’s why she is called “Hitlery.”

Thanks for the info. I still don’t see why he should apologize though. We already know Obama was a partier by his own admission. It would stand to reason that he may have dealt at one point or another in his youth. We all know that there will be armies of reporters searching the college history of the Republican winner for any sign of drug use, or other malfeasance. Something the Democrat winner will not have to worry about.

It would be nice if the founder of BET gained insight to the giant differences with how Republicans and Democrats get treated by the MSM. I suspect he’s too stupid to see the parallels even after this.

Agreed! I have surfed through and it doesn’t take more than a few minutes before I realize I am out of bounds. There is no reason to view the classless crap that is spewed on that network. I guess that Johnson is no longer adored after his classless remarks.
