Jack Brod, Early Tenant of Empire State Building, Dies at 98

Jack Brod, a businessman who over nearly eight decades gradually worked his way from the 7th floor of the Empire State Building to the 76th, where he reigned as the skyscraper’s last original tenant, died last Sunday at his home in Manhattan. He was 98.

Two months later, Mr. Brod and his father arrived to start a new business, a collection agency that would profit from indebtedness spawned by the Depression.

Good economic lesson for everybody. Even in downturns, there's opportunity.

He was interviewed on a TV special about the Empire State Building a few years ago on a cable channel or PBS, I forget which......
