Have you been in an airport recently and maybe seen a gaggle of America's heroes returning from Iraq? And you've probably thought, "Ah, what a marvelous sight. Remind me to straighten up the old 'Support Our Troops' fridge magnet, which seems to have slipped down below the reminder to reschedule my acupuncturist. Maybe I should go over and thank them for their service."
No, no, no, under no account approach them. Instead, try to avoid making eye contact and back away slowly toward the sign for the parking garage. You're in the presence of mentally damaged violent killers who could snap at any moment.

You remember John Kerry? John Kerry? That name sounds familar. He was in Vietnam, wasn't he?

The Left is crazed. They really do need psychotherapy. The very people who question the sanity of the troops never question their own assumptions. As far as wars go, the Iraq War should be cause for celebration. But not to people who retreat to a doom and gloom fantasy world in which nothing ever goes right for the United States. The MSM's evolving reporting of the troops as psychopaths looting, raping and mass murdering in Iraq to psychopaths, looting, raping and murdering at home has been real subtle. So much for the Left's claim to support the troops.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus

We cannot let it happen again. It is up to us to stop it anywhere and everywhere we see it. I was too young to have affected it for Vietnam, I’ll be damned if I’m going to allow it to happen again.

One of the real shames of the Iraq war and aftermath have been the failure of the claimed “conservative” commentators to have the guts to go against the PC-beltway-Dim line and point out that while each casualty is sad, the US casualty rate in the war on terrorism and the Iraqi theater of operations of the war on terrorism particularly have been quite low. I am glad to see Mark Steyn have the guts to step up.
Those interested should look at US KIA rates in past wars or really compare them to the US population. A thesis of mine is that only because the casualty rate is so low do the press and Dims dare run down the war effort and the troops. If the casualty rate were high, they would be more circumspect in such criticism because in every audience there would be a mother, brother, father, sister, son, daugher etc of one of those who died in battle who likely would be offended by such talk.

I'm not going to search for the post, but about 6-9 months ago, I predicted on FR that the Old Media would do precisely this, especially if we started doing well in the war.
You can tell what the media is going to do in Iraq coverage by following their history in Vietnam. It was rather late in the Vietnam war before the media turned to John Kerry's psycho-babykillers narrative.

In 2008, the editors of the Times, our college professors and Hollywood celebrities, are horrified by a fiction. Faced with a historically low cost of war, they retreat into fantasy. Who's really suffering from mental trauma? Who needs the psychotherapy here? The answer is clear but the problem seems to be systemic.
