BELARUS - Belarus on Friday jailed for three years an editor of an independent newspaper who reproduced cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed that first appeared in Denmark in 2005 and caused mass demonstrations across the Muslim world.
The 12 cartoons portraying the founder of Islam, including one showing the prophet with a bomb in his turban, outraged Muslims who saw them as blasphemous. More than 50 people died in protests across the world the following year.
Belarussian authorities shut down the "Zgoda" (Consensus) paper in March 2006, around the time when other European journals began reprinting the cartoons. The security service, still known by its Soviet-era name, the KGB, began an investigation after Muslims in the ex-Soviet state complained.

Hey Eagle, I pinged you on the story “Putting (Canadian) tribunal on trial (Freep sister-site mentioned). You have to see some of the video. Ezra Levant is the Canadian publisher who published this same cartoon in Canada and was accused of “Human Rights Violations” by a Iman who turned him in to the politburo and he is now facing a tribunal.

What is so scary is that the West so easily gives in to the demands of Muslims. It is gripped by fear. Not one country puts up a fight.
But not to worry - Bush, Condi and most members of Congress still claim that Islam is a ROP. Notice that no politician during this election year has ever mentioned the danger that Islam poses to our country. We are sold down the river by our own government.

Yes, and they condescend to organizations like CAIR who run the Islamic underground in this country. CAIR goes after free speech here by playing the religion/racism card.

How about asking for a complete dismissal. I guess three years in jail is “lenient” to the Muslim community in comparison with looking like the headless horseman for the rest of your abbreviated life.
