So in pursuit of the truth, Huse traveled the few miles down the road from his home in Stephenville to the Rotary Club meeting hall in downtown Dublin on Saturday to tell this story:

On Jan. 8, shortly after dark, he was walking two house guests to their car near Stephenville's main square when he beheld a red glowing light moving slowly across the sky. He pointed up at the sky and said: "UFO."

"I know what an airplane looks like," the 53-year-old retired electronics technician said. "I know what a helicopter looks like. This wasn't an airplane or a helicopter.

"This looked different than anything I had ever seen," he added.

That was the gist of what Huse told the investigators from the Mutual UFO Network, or MUFON, at the Saturday gathering, he said.

It was a story, told in multiple versions, to investigators from the nonprofit group that calls itself "dedicated to the scientific study of UFOs for the benefit of humanity."

The MUFON investigators rode into Dublin, a city famous as the home of a Dr Pepper museum and plant. Their goal was to look into the ruckus that has thrust this cowboy country of small towns and big skies into the international limelight.

Armed with a three-page questionnaire, investigators probed the memories of witnesses in one-on-one interviews.

"We are trying to get to the bottom of the mystery," said MUFON's Texas director, Ken Cherry. "We approach it from a scientific method and let the chips fall as they may."

The mystery unfolded with stories like Huse's.

Before Saturday's gathering, dozens of people had filed reports with the group, Cherry said. Most told of an unidentified object seen between 6:15 p.m. Jan. 8 and 4 a.m. the next day.

At the Dublin Rotary Club building, about 200 possible witnesses told their tale, Cherry said. It was many more than could be handled with the 50 copies of the questionnaire that MUFON members had brought with them.

The hall — normally filled with revelers for events such as the annual Dr Pepper, St. Patrick's Day and homecoming celebrations — was packed with about 500 people. Some of them were witnesses; others were curious area residents, some wearing aluminum foil hats and T-shirts proclaiming Stephenville the UFO capital of the world.

They were all stuck behind a semi-circle of television cameras and reporters flanking Cherry and Steve Hudgeons, assistant state director.

Hudgeons started off the meeting by defining UFO. "It means unidentified flying object," he said. "It does not mean spaceship from outer space."

Indeed, the group does not pretend to have a handle on alien technology, said Robert Powell, a director of research for MUFON who came from Austin to help the investigation.

The trick of such an investigation is to weed out the nuts and the folks who saw sights easily explained with an airplane flight schedule. The rest are occurrences that might just turn out to be unexplainable, he said.

"You want to get down to the real cases," said Powell, a real estate broker.

For Powell, the aluminum-covered heads in the room lacked a certain respect for the field. He said he got into it to study the phenomenon scientifically.

"It's an unknown that has the potential to be solved," Powell said.

MUFON's conclusions will not be ready for months, if not a year, Cherry said. They will likely be published first in the group's newsletter.

If Huse was sticking to the facts Saturday, Sean Kiel had a theory.

Kiel, 42, said he saw a bright ball of light passing across the sky at dusk on Jan. 8. He was somewhere between Weatherford and Cisco, driving his regular trucking route. A resident of New Haven, Ky., Kiel came to Dublin for the meeting with photos of the light saved on his cell phone.

He doesn't know for sure, but he believes the photos show some kind of military aircraft.

Of course, that doesn't mean it wasn't a UFO in one sense of the phrase.

"It was a UFO," he said. "I couldn't identify it."

That . . . of course . . . ASSUMING we know all there is to know about causality and time etc.

As opposed to being flatlanders . . . trying to view a mile high 8 dimensional object in flatland . . . and pontificate convincingly about it.

Some sources assert that they have a technology or capacity somehow to repress/depress inclinations toward thinking about cameras.

Of course the field is infiltrated with ‘them’ . . . shadow government types, disinformation specialists and the like.

Makes puzzle piece sorting rather complex and tenuous at best.

Stillll . . . there’s a LOT of puzzle pieces out there.

"To believe without a trace of evidence that there are other civilizations out there is irrational."

RightWhale, I'm not exactly a statistician, but I have a feeling that probability and statistical studies can make such a belief at least rational.

Perhaps I should have mentioned that Immanuel Kant said he would wager a large fraction of his social advantages that there are civilizations on other planets. He was a wild and crazy guy.

BTW, statistics are meaningful in social studies but are not even mathematics.

Also, belief might be reasonable, but hardly rational.

Well, I’m a math cripple to start with. I think the idea of extraterrestrial civilizations is a fairly rational one, but as skeptic, I recognize that there’s no way to prove any of this.

“Rational” means based on the use of reason.

Can’t ever prove there isn’t since the universe is so large we would forget what we were doing before we got more than a couple light years out, but if we stuble across some of that, then there it is. In the meantime we ought to proceed as if we are alone in this mess.

Here’s an interesting explanation . . . from this ATS thread:

http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread328059/pg1

= = =

The Luciferian Endgame and the Coming Great Deception

Okay. I have to start this thread in hopes to get some opinions on the relationships I will make. The following thread is the reason I start this one.
UFO sightings will increase...

I have to start by saying that I am not a religious person. My family, however, is very religious. They gave me a book to read called “Politics, Prophecy, and the Supernatural: The Coming Great Deception and the Luciferian Endgame” by L.A. Marzulli Mr. Marzulli is a worship pastor I believe in California.

In his book, he states that UFOs and ETs are part of the “Great Deception” that is the goal of Lucifer/Satan. He believes, and supports them through bible scripture, that the plan of Lucifer is to gain as many as possible for the great battle of Armageddon. He shows that Lucifer is using the illusions of UFO and ET sightings to reel people into his army.

According to him, when people believe that there are aliens, they will be so far from God, that they will be easy to take into Satan’s army. Marzulli also states that through alien sightings, this is the easiest way to persuade people that others besides umans, exist. It is said that if God created alien life, wouldn’t he allow there to be solid evidence and no speculation of it’s existence? This is why some believe UFO and alien existence is part of Satan’s “Great Deception”.

L.A. also states that there will be an increase in “sightings” in this period from 2008-2012. He says that through the new technology of holographic imaging, and mass information outlets such as the internet and satellite television, there is no better way to convince most of the world that “aliens” are the ones that have been running the world and not God. There is no better or faster way to reach so many people than through these aforementioned means.

This digital age has been a build up by Lucifer to reach the masses at once according to the book. He portrays the following scenario in the book: Imagine waking one morning and turning on the television and seeing alien spaceships hovering over the middle east. You change the channel and see them on the news hovering over nations worldwide. This, he says, is when you will know the end times are here. So many people seeing what is happening in real time, as Marzulli states, will make most men faint in that they know the true horrors that are about to be unleashed unto man. What better plan could there be for Satan to gather so many on his side? This according to the author, will be the beginning of Satan’s predetermined reign on Earth.

Sorry for bringing the religion aspect, but I have not seen much by way of this belief on ATS and I would like to get both believers of alien existence and religious advocates take on this claim by Marzulli.

Throughout his book, he connects many current political issues and supernatural occurrences, such as Mothman, to the end times and Lucifer’s plan.

I have to admit, that a lot of the book makes since. Even when he uses scripture to explain what he thinks. I know the bible is extremely open for interpretation, but he logically makes since. I was force fed religion and the bible as a kid unable to question anything. Now that I think for myself, I have to add that this book is a great, non-preaching, explanation of some of the questions I have wondered about the Bible/UFO relationship.

Indeed, they do.

I don’t know anyone who has timing spot on. Least of all me.

However, there have been incremental . . . actually a LOT of incremental puzzle pieces in said directions.

One ignores them to one’s own hurt, imho.

Oh, I don’t know about that . . . being ignorant . . . that’s an option of mine . . .

IF

time—as we know it—were encapsulated in a large sphere . . .

as a decoration on an even larger coffee table somewhere . . .

I suspect the larger Johnny playing around the coffee table somewhere could poke his beyond-time-finger into the time-sphere at various points . . . and probably even move some objects, alive, or not . . . within the sphere . . . from one time to another . . . and maybe even back again . . .

therefor what . . . else . . . I don’t know.

Speaking of Skunkworks . . . the retiring head thereof boldly asserted that

IF YOU CAN IMAGINE IT, WE CAN ALREADY DO IT . . .

supposedly that included time travel.

One direction only?

Time will tell . . . oh, dear, that word again.

Your statement assumes we know all there is to know about the universe and because we have no evidence there can be no belief in extraterrestrial life. That’s as arrogant as it gets.

That said I never said there was life anywhere else in the universe. What I said was it is arrogant to claim there is not. There is a difference.
