(Get real, don’t let the beltway crowd steal the Republican Party away from us.)

They already have and it is time to realize the GOP is now liberal as is most of the country, you have but to put on your thinking cap and look and see and hear.
It is time for a third party in America.

Interesting analysis.

I’m in Florida and know that almost 40% have voted already with only Rudy running ads and stumping to huge crowds. Lots of Easterners here with a fondness for Rudy as well.

I figured a Rudy win would effectively kill McCain’s campaign, Rudy, Mitt, and Huck go on with Huck dropping out after Rudy takes the East and Mitt the West, leaving Mitt and Rudy.

Best candidate wins.

That said, I wish it was Fred. I feel like I’ve been run over by a truck this morning.

The question is this:

Has the demoncrap party shifted so far to the left that the republicans can win without the conservatives? I.E can the republicans form a moderate/centrist party? This strategy has never worked historically. Politcal action requires energy, moderation by default is low energy.

The east coast check pant Republicans have a theory that most republicans are middle of the road types, embarassed by conservatives.

Face it we FR types, conservatives, are the RINO's now, the us equivalent of the brit torries. Just think, I don't have to give campaign donations any more to the republicrats.

McCain is self-defeating. Unfortunately, it will be a D that wins.

This is nuts. It makes no sense what so ever that the Republicans have shot themselves in the foot, but the alternative scenario of feeling sorry for our selves when the Beast becomes President is a nightmare that I won’t sit back and watch.

My Husband and I will back McCain (reluctantly)because our number one issue - above all else- is the military and national security.

So those of you who want to stomp your feet and stay home election day instead of voting to keep the Clintons out of the Whitehouse, please tell me how far you will let this go before you get over yourselves?

Flame away.

McCain must be defeated by tactical voting.

Suppose he is defeated, and let's assume Fred drops out. Then what? The remaining candidates are every bit as liberal as he is.

For conservatives, this election is essentially lost already.

thats it ? - for all the hype and vitriol on FR these past months, all the bannings and you roll on Fred in the first two sentences and just after the initial caucuses in mid January.....almost a whole year before the election?

the main concern of mine is to beat McCain.

but,,,but....arent the fredbots the same people who said vote republican even if they stink during the last election cycle, even though the party crapped on its conservative core?

ironic that fed supporters would be responsible for electing hillary

I'm sorry that you don't like McCain. I think your writing and suggestions for voting are insane. You are essentially asking people to stop McCain without any concern for who we get instead. But at the end of the day we have to run someone against Hillary. You would do far better to pick who, among the plausible winners, you support, and articulate why. That might be interesting and sway someone. Asking people in New York to vote for Rudy and those somewhere else to vote for Huckabee is incoherent.

What's the ultimate result you are looking for? A brokered convention? A Hillary Presidency?

Even judged by your own standards (crafting the Stop Mac strategy) you are doing poorly. You were urging people to vote for Fred, which was a large and obvious mistake. The only candidate who could have stopped McCain in S.C. was Huck, and that was obvious. Why didn't you support him?

Get real, don't let the beltway crowd steal the Republican Party away from us. Define "US". McCain is doing OK (only 1/2 as many delegates as Mitt though) because voters in New Hampshire and South Carolina voted for him. I'd hope after 20 years on the hill a few 'insiders' are supporting him to. But it's an open process and Mitt, Rudy and even Fred (another insider, right? I mean McCain never WORKED as a paid lobbyist did he??) have an open shot at winning every contest.

You go on to write: THE ESTABLISHMENT CANDIDATE IS MCCAIN. Says you. Who's establishment? And why is that so bad. We are Conservatives, after all, not bomb-throwing radical leftists. A bit of circumspection and respect for established leaders is a conservative virtue, isn't it?

The candidates with an actual path to beating McCain are Rudy and Mitt. Of the two Mitt is arguably the most conservative. Mitt has been endorsed by The National Review, Ann Coulter, Hugh Hewitt, and others. Maybe you should consider supporting him, in a conventional sort of way, and stop advocating for random voting by state as the way to beat him.

Sorry. My vote is still with Fred until the end. I hope for a brokered convention, which gives Fred more of a chance.

Wouldn't it be nice if the native son of Missouri who's name inspired mine finally came out of the closet for Romney?

I think Rush likes Romney and Fred. Rush spent several days praising the Romney religion in America speech.

McCain-Feingold made the First Amendment into toilet paper.

Thompson was one of the original sponsors.

ALL CRITICS CAN SHUT UP AT THIS POINT BECAUSE YOU ONLY HELP MCCAIN BY TRASHING ROMNEY

We have good reason to trash Romney. Romney is a fraud. Just because Rush and the New MSM are pushing him, doesn't make him a conservative. Get your head out of the talk radio hole and do some research.

McCain is not the most conservative person in the race, but he is more conservative than Romney on any issue.

I had a struggle with who to vote for: Fred or Mitt.

Now, the choice is clear: Mitt Romney.
