U.S. officials monitoring terrorist web sites have discovered a call for using forest fires as weapons against crusader nations, in what may explain some recent wildfires in places like southern California and Greece.
A terrorist website was discovered recently that carried a posting that called for Forest Jihad. The posting was listed on the Internet on Nov. 26 and reported in U.S. intelligence channels last week. The statement, in Arabic, said that summer has begun so do not forget the Forest Jihad.
The writer called on all Muslims in the United States, Europe, Russia and Australia to start forest fires.
The posting quoted imprisoned Al Qaida terrorist Abu Musab Al-Suri, as saying Jihad is an art just like poetry, music, and the fine arts. There are people that draw and there are others that are jihadists. They both act upon inspiration. Al-Suri is a senior Al Qaida leader captured in Pakistan in 2005 who is believed to be in U.S. custody.
The idea of forest fires is attributed to him, may God set him free, as is in this short clip, the writer stated.
The posting said that setting forest fires were legal under extremist Islamic law as part of a eye for an eye and that can produce amazing results.
Wildfires in California burned more than 500,000 acres beginning in October and authorities said arson was to blame for some of the fires. In August, wildfires broke out in Greece that authorities say were deliberately set.
The writer stated that it was permissible to burn trees in carrying out jihad.
Scholars have justified chopping down and burning the infidels' forests when they do the same to our lands, the writer said.
The writer stated that targeted forests are in the nations that are at war with Muslims, including the United States, Europe, Russia, and Australia.
Other nations, including Brazil are off limits because Brazil has not joined the armies of the crusade.
On damage caused by wildfires, the report said that the fires typically take months to put out which means that this terror will haunt them for an extended period of time.
The fires also will cause economic damage because it will limit exports of timber used to make furniture and also will cause losses to pharmaceutical companies that use trees for ingredients for drugs, the posting said.
Smoke caused by the fires will create pollution and military forces could be tied up fighting fires. The report noted that U.S. military forces in Iraq or Afghanistan could even be recalled as occurred following hurricane Katrina, which did not occur.
Imagine if, after all the losses caused by such an event, a jihadist organization were to claim responsibility for (starting) the forest fires, the writer said. You can hardly begin to imagine the level of the fear that would take hold of people in the United States, in Europe, in Russia, and in Australia.
The report said that Abu Musab Al-Suri, urges terrorists to use sulphuric acid to start a forest fire, as well as gasoline.
The article was signed by Abu Thar Al-Kuwaiti, on behalf of a group called the Al-Ikhlas Islamic Network.
AMEN!
So...is deadly force authorized if you’re witnessing this type of terrorism ? Or any type ?
Forest fires are an attack on our electric grid. High voltage transmission lines often run through forests.
Ah yes, the forests of Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and Iraq. I remember them well before Bush the lumberjack came along.
I think that's the reason all these home grown jihadi's are not called terrorists by the authorities
Probably depends upon the laws where it takes place.
In Washington State RCW9A 16.050 Homicide states
By person - When justifiable. Homicide is also justifiable when committed either:
(1) in the lawful defense of the slayer, or his or her husband, wife, parent, child, brother, or sister, or of any other person in his presence or company, when there is reasonable ground to apprehend a design on the part of the person slain to commit a felony or to do some great personal injury to the slayer or to any such person, and there is imminent danger of such design being accomplished; or
(2) In the actual resistance of an attempt to commit a felony upon the slayer, in his presence or upon or in a dwelling, or other place of abode, in which he is.
Not giving legal advice, but it appears that the "plane language" of the statute says that if Arson is a felony, then in Washington State on would be justified in killing a jihadist, especially if you felt that your life might be in danger from the fire (s)he was attempting to start or you tried to stop the jihadist and you required deadly force to stop them from starting the fire. (This assumes that law enforcement would view starting a forest fire as Arson in the first or second degree or at the very least reckless burning in the first degree, which are all felonies)
Washington state even has a felony sabotage statue against damage to lumber interests and property. Just make sure that you tag what you shoot and report it to the appropriate authorities (/sarcasm)
IF this stuff keeps up we’ll have to teach them how to set sand on fire and turn it into green glass.
If the terrorist are looking for some sensational, spectacular terrorist act, met to terrorize...Brush fires will be a big let down for them.
They've already taken sides. The policies that the environmentalists have pushed for three decades have resulted in annually-occurring fires in the American West becoming super-conflagrations, rather than the natural (smaller) fire events that they should have been.
I will try to explain.
The first part of the name, Abu Musab, is a kunyah, which is the practice of calling a man or a woman by their first-born son’s name.* It’s considered more respectful than calling someone by their first name. People who don’t have children usually invent a kunyah for themselves using a historical figure. Sometimes a kunyah is symbolic, like in the 2nd name Abu Thar that means “father of revenge”. It’s a kunya he chose to suit his terrorist occupation. There are various terrorist organizations that have a kunyah as their official names.
Maybe you have heard of the Palestinian Mahmoud Abbas being called Abu Mazen by his associates. From that we can infer that his firstborn son is/was named Mazen.
The second part of the name, al-Suri/Al-Kuwaiti could be real “last names” or nicknames. In this case, they’re nicknames. This type of name is a nisbah & is simply a geographical name & refers to the actual owner of the kunyah, not the firstborn. “Abu Musab” is a person who had a child named Musab. Abu Musab is the one who is Syrian. Musab himself doesn’t figure into the nisbah.
Hope I was able to explain!
*The female kunyah would be Umm Musab.
They may try this, but it will be surprisingly ineffective. The fires can’t move from the forests into cities, so about all they can do is some damage to rural houses and businesses. Bad for the property owners, of course, but it won’t destroy the country. Fire can only be used once in any particular area, and then they’d be out of fuel for many years to come.
Thanks — very interesting information.
Well well well.......where have we read this before....:o)
We have a local arsonist working our area and he’s considered a shoot on site target of opportunity by locals, ranchers and farmers .
oh jeez, finally. 8 starts in San Diego?
I’ll bet the local LE wouldn’t mind too much if he was found shot dead next to a gas can either.
Isn't the 'reason' the environmental whacko's?
The whacko's consider CO2 as a pollutant - so we all must stop breathing. They seem to ignore the loooong established science that CO2 is what the green plants (trees, etc.) use to make oxygen.
Trees are a renewable resource, but they don't want ANY cut down, or any brush cleared to cut down on the chance of fire. They don't want any homes built in those areas.
The problem is lack of gov’t. While the gov’t is supposedly there and doing gov’t things, in fact it merely collects funds and disburses funds without doing any gov’t at all.
Specially if he resembles a sod poodle......
