It's Official! The Reagan Coalition is DEAD! - John Ziegler
KGIL ^ | Jan 21, 2008 | John Ziegler

(talk radio transcript… )

“Hi Everybody, John Ziegler here, on this Monday with my commentary….”

***

The BIG STORY of the Weekend: The Republican Primary in South Carolina, which if we’re paying attention, should provide us numerous lessons.

LESSON NUMBER ONE: The Republican race is now basically down to just John McCain and Mitt Romney. Both of whom pose huge problems for conservatives, at least real ones.

And we learned that Fred Thompson, the only real conservative in the race, is not going to win the nomination, unless as a long-shot compromise candidate at a brokered convention.

The failure of the Thompson Campaign to gain almost any traction, leaves us also with many lessons in itself.

We learned that the Reagan Coalition: It’s Officially Dead.

If it wasn’t, there’s no way Thompson could do no better than a weak third, even in South Carolina, with a Republican Renegade -like McCain- more than doubling his vote.

By the way, the Old South itself, it’s also on life supports!

The two Southern candidates failed to combine for even fifty percent of the vote, in a Republican Primary in South Carolina!

Sadly, we learned, once and for all, that opposition to illegal immigration is a vastly overrated electoral weapon. Even in a Republican Primary, even in South Carolina.

If this wasn’t true, how in the world could “Amnesty Champion” John McCain, pull off a victory there?

And how could it be that the first three candidates to be virtually eliminated from contention, also happen to be by far the strongest against illegal immigration!

And FINALLY, speaking of overrated forces, how about the total gutlessness and impotence of alleged talk radio heavyweights Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity!

Neither of whom have the courage or credibility to even make a simple endorsement!

Obviously afraid of backing the wrong horse, and being revealed as irrelevant, they did nothing for Fred.

And their attacks on McCain and Mike Huckabee were utterly powerless to prevent them from nearly taking over the party!

Afraid to wield their big sticks, Limbaugh and Hannity have been shown to have nothing more than “little twigs“ when it comes to impacting things that actually matter!

Wow, Zig, it's what we're all thinking!

If we fail to nominate someone that Conservatives
can support, we are leaving the entire race up to ONE
person.

We're counting on Obama to push Hillary out of the
Nomination: Is that wise???

What if he can't. Bill Clinton is way too strong and has
the support of all major media!

The Republican Nomination MUST go to someone who can
win and STOP Hillary.

Three Terms for one Presidential Team is going
to make the Clinton's more powerful than any President
we've ever seen.

Who is going to stop them?

McCain?

Romney?

Thompson?

It's time to ask ourselves, who has the BEST chance of
going Head-to-Head with the Clintons??

What an @ss. So, who did John endorse? It appears he endorsed no one, but said he could vote for Thompson.

Who cares? They’re all the same.

I think I may register as a Dim and vote for Obama.

He’s an idiot, but at least he’s honest.

This is what open primaries brings. I’m all for doing away with them.

>>Why is Obama better than Hillary?<<

Hillary is WORSE than Obama... because she’s
high on power!

She and Bill Clinton claim to have respect for
minorities, yet look how their Supremacy
attitude turned on Barack Obama for daring to
challenge them this election!

It’s scary to see the Clinton’s twist and turn
reality to suit their own LUST for power!

Why do they want to lead a nation they despise?

The Presidency is NOT a gift you give yourself!

And never forget, these two “lawyers” are twisting
our Constitution to have a THIRD term, because of
their marriage!

I don’t like it. I don’t like them.

The best choice is the candidate who can get the most votes before the convention. Not the candidate who has the most delegates after 4 or 5 primarys, which include independent voters.

Why did Ron Paul get so many votes? Same reason McCain got so many votes. Independent voters, who probably favor Democrats. Independents felt comfortable manipulating the GOP contest because they know HilBama is even and are not threatened by either prospect.

On the other hand, librals would defintely be threatened by a True Conservative like Fred if he were to gain momentum. But they could live with a pseudo like McCain.

Much as everybody loves Fred on this board, he doesn’t/didn’t have a snowball’s chance of beating Hillary.

I am done with the MSM. Every now and then I would tune into Chrissy and Stephie’s show just to monitor the enemy, but no longer. I cannot tolerate the lies anymore. Even my beloved FOX refused to give Fred a voice. I will never watch them again. BOR is two faced. H and C bores me, except when Ann shows up ;-). From now on it is Rush, Laura, Mark, MM and Ann, and of course FR-—that’s enough .

I am so disgusted with the RNC and all of the RINOs.

I will stand and support Conservatives wherever they may be. I will be a stay at home conservative if McLame gets nominated.

This is such BS. Reagan worked years to establish his conservative creds. Thompson wouldn’t even enter the race when it started.

Why is Obama better than Hillary?

He's not entrenched in back room DNC circles. He does not have the MSM in his back pocket (or vice-versa). His "power base" is yet to be defined and, to a larger degree than hers, up for grabs. He doesn't have the FBI files. He is more likely to seek coalition (across the aisle) governance than her (because he has to). He's not married to Bill Clinton.
