would the liberals be in favor of allowing Communist countries to come in and drill in ANWR?

I bet they would.

It would take some very long odds before I would bet against you.

I don’t know where you have been hiding but most 10 mpg contraptions have hit the boneyards 2 decades ago.

Yeah, my big 'ole American truck, a Ford F-250 turbo diesel, gets about 24-26 mpg on the highway after some minor modifications to the computer.....and it'll dang near smoke the tires if you really get on it......

This explains why gas went UP $.30 a gallon in Louisville yesterday

It jumped up .14 in SE Michigan this morning. Has anyone heard of a refinery fire or something?

Maybe this is the reason....

``The drop in refinery runs may also be driven by economics,'' Evans said. ``Tesoro said this week that it was cutting fuel output because of poor margins.''

Tesoro Corp., the owner of seven U.S. refineries, cut fuel production this month after record crude-oil costs eroded profit margins, the San Antonio-based company said in a statement on Jan. 14.

Do you understand we consume more natural gas already than we produce domestically?

Yep. And the RATs are really ticked off at us Texicans for doing all that drilling in the Barnett shale that is producing all kinds of natural gas. They're about to have a real hissy fit when the new fracing and side drilling techniques start being used in Appilacia creating all sorts of high paying jobs there. Watch for them to use the enviroment to try and stop tyhe drilling.

actually i would be happier if they converted domestic methane to diesel

Works for me! I happen to be sitting on a large supply of domestic methane.

If you get my drift...

(On the other hand, you don't want to be downwind, or you WILL get my drift.)

Louisville has a history of sudden jumps and fast declines in gasoline prices. Since they are the same oil/gasoline companies that exist nationally, it appears to be local suppliers and retailers causing these price changes.

I had a 1989 F-250 with the 460 in it for 14 years. I dumped it four years ago. My tundra may not pull like it but it does get 17-18 around town.

Agreed. Mostly speculators that are keeping everything high. To fix this economy, oil has to retreat to a reasonable level. It’s amazing we have held up THIS long.

My 2001 Powerstroke Dually isn’t quite as thrifty. But, after 250,000 miles it will still haul 5 hefty “bubbas” on our biannual hunting trip to the Dakotas and Idaho in relative comfort, although it’s good we like each other . Pack in the longbed topper enough firepower, ammo and supplies for a small army. Hook up the 30 foot Mountaineer behind and I will still get 12-14 mpg except in the mountains. Hmmm .... let me see ... how many wussy Priuses would it take to haul all of that? I rest my case. I would like the “chip” you are using .. I never got around to it.

Basic economics bypass most people. One can put a lot of gas in a perfectly good vehicle that is paid for compared to the monthly avg 500 smackeroos people now make in payments to buy a vehicle your F250 will haul.

I have a "Supertuner".

The rear end gearing on the dually is probably what is hurting your mileage. Mine is a '97 short bed crew cab with 315,000 trouble free miles and still going strong. I have a Bigfoot truck camper that I regularly haul, weighing about 2200 lbs, and it still gets about 18 mpg at 70 mph on the highway. With the Supertuner tuning installed I can accellerate up 5%+ grades with the camper on board. Works great out in the Rockies.

The Supertuner plugs into the computer port just below the glove box and changes the tuning depending on what you are wanting to do, i.e., tow, high performance, etc. It also reads the error codes, too. I've heard there are better tuners out now, but I don't know any specifics. It was the best $350 I've spent on this truck, for sure.....

It went from 40 to 70 in a matter of days. It’s made spectacular one day jumps. Not even a 2 dollar a barrel difference signals nothing but speculator retrenchment for what they hope to be an eventual push over $100 ppb.

....Greedy thieving overreachers.

Actually, there is a supposed $30 to $40 speculators “war premium” in the present price alone. So, a 30 to 40 dollar precipitious price drop is not only possible, but some say, it is inevitable. And much more downward pressure has been added to the speculators market with the second large oil field find recently off the coast of Brazil. Think about that! 4 major oil fields found off the eastern coasts of the americas. A hop skip and jump away from US refineries. No feiggin crazed Islamofascists around....well, not many, and don’t expect them to live very long if they try and get in the way of Brazils prosperity.
