Since 1 January 1st through January 20th over 430 Kassam missiles and mortars were launched at Israel. (Source Israel News Agency]

Yet the AP doesn't mention that prime factor as to why all this mess in Gaza is occurring.

So Egypt can now enjoy the up-close and personal accompaniment of Palestinian militants.

[snip] The Palestinians are chanting and angry with Egyptian police for closing their border, creating a crisis they say. The Egyptians reasoning is that Hamas militants will escape back into Egypt. [end]

Will the world hold Egypt to the same standards as Israel -
feed them, clothe them, support them, provide money for bombs to kill you?

And give up some of your land for them to live on while you support their campaign against you.

You might argue that that's like being the tallest member of the lollipop guild but still...

I'd be more prone to using feces in any analogy about them.

I noticed an Australian on that wiki link for notable ‘palestinians’ - thought I would check, here’s who he is:

Hockey was born in Sydney, New South Wales. His father, Richard Hockey, who came to Australia in 1948, was born in Bethlehem, West Bank (pre-1948 Palestine), of Armenian background - the family name was originally Hokeidonian.[3][4] Hockey attended St Aloysius’ College and the University of Sydney, residing at St John’s College, where he graduated with degrees in Arts and Law. He was a banking and finance lawyer, and Director of Policy to the Premier of New South Wales, before entering politics.

HOCKEY’S BACKGROUND IS CHRISTIAN ARMENIAN.

"Palestine" has been a melting pot for 1000's of years. A Palestinian is just someone who was born there or has ties to the area.

People who defend Israel's right to exist(me for one), note that Palestine has only existed as a nationalist movement in the 20th century. Before that people were far more likely to identify themselves by their tribe or religious affilitation(Druuze, Christian, Sunni etc...). A Christian Armenian whose parents have ties to the West Bank has just as much right to call themselves a Palestinian as anyone else. To use a term from postmodernism it's an "Imagined Community".

I was responding to your comment:

Oddly enough the Palis, especially the diaspora, used to be one of, if not the most, educated and productive arab group in the world...

and when I went to the wiki link you provided, I found Hockey, A CHRISTIAN ARMENIAN.

I also notice that amongst the notable 'palestinians' listed on wiki is Edward Said. Now, he should definitely be on it.

Here is Edward Said doing what pali's do, throwing rocks at Israeli's.

And here's Edward Said having dinner with Obama. Off topic, just for fun.

I trust you can put 2 and 2 together. Look for a common thread in all three posts.

just as much right maybe, but would they want to? Does Hockey, for example, even know he's on a list with suicide bombers, an arch terrorist and his wife, a twelve year old boy the arabs maintain was killed by the IDF who is probably still alive (no body, no autopsy, and the last investigation was shown a film wherein the boy was DEFINITELY STILL ALIVE after he was supposedly 'shot')

Somehow I doubt it. I am prepared to write and ask him.

I'm just a little outraged that you used the word arab in your comment:

Oddly enough the Palis, especially the diaspora, used to be one of, if not the most, educated and productive arab group in the world...

There's NO WAY Hockey is an arab! (But then, it's wiki, and you probably didn't read all the names.)

Meh... Iran is only 53% Persian, yet people say Iranians are Persian. I can see your argument that it's unfair to lump them all together, but it's really not that big a deal. A quick fact check yields this:

Ethnic groups

Palestinian Arab and other (Kurd, Sharkasian, Armenian) 83%,
Jewish 17% (Except for a small minority of Samaritan Jews near Nablus; most of the Jews in the Palestinian territories are Israeli citizens)

http://www.melaniephillips.com/diary/?p=1532

"On June 16 1967 Israel offered to give back these territories to Jordan and Egypt in exchange for peace. It even convened a meeting of 80 notable Arabs from the West Bank to discuss whether a Palestinian state could be established there. They all said they would indeed like to have such a state – but if they signed any such agreement with Israel, radicals such as Yasser Arafat would kill them..."

Sorry, my argument is not with you, it's just that very time I see notable/arab/palestinian in the same sentence I totally lose my cool!

And wiki doesn't help. Useful for some items, but where history or politics is concerned it's nothing but misinformation.
