Duncan Hunter Endorses Mike Huckabee
National Review Online ^ | 1-23-08 | Byron York

Posted on 01/23/2008 12:29:02 PM PST by TitansAFC

This was a surprise. From the Hunter statement:

"I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail," said Hunter. "Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China's emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of America‚s industrial base."

"Along with these issues of national security, border enforcement and protecting the U.S. industrial base, I see another quality of Mike Huckabee's candidacy that compels my endorsement. Mike Huckabee is a man of outstanding character and integrity. I saw that character over the last year of campaigning and was greatly impressed. The other Republican candidates have many strengths and I wish them all well. My personal choice is Mike Huckabee," Hunter concluded.

..it will take some time to sort this out—I know his former campaign people are being lit up right about now...

Of course he knows China ... he’s from Arkansas ... they have restaurants in Little Rock (wasn’t it Charlie Trie?).

"..how’s Fred’s campaign going these days?"

Well, better than Duncan Hunter's. At least Fred was in the top tier from day one.

And he’s totally anti-NAU. I love that.

Any endorsement by Hunter will mean nothing.

That is a ludicrous and analytically inept statement. I noticed on Saturday night that with only 78% of the total votes counted, Duncan Hunter had already racked up 367 votes!

Huck isn’t fiscally conservative and you know it.

Yes... THAT I know! I wasn't talking about Huck. The subject was Hunter.

Put your sarcasm away because that is exactly what happened

Worked so well a majority of Americans want eight more years of the same success. If Republicans were smart, we would just vote Democrat all the time, and then we would really be in control. /s whether you like it or not.

The GOP will never learn if they keep acting like democrats/socialists.

"I don’t think Hunter did enough research on his Bud Huckabee, but I wasn’t up to speed on Huckabee either until a month or so ago, when the citizens of Arkansas brought me up to speed."

Anyone with half a brain would do that research BEFORE they issued an endorsement

But I personally believe DH thought this one through--even if I don't agree with the decision...

If he was to endorse anyone (I really wish he hadn't), he certainly made the right decision.

Huck has been steadfast on abortion and 2a... That can not be said of any of the others. On that alone, if for no other reason, he was right to do as he did.

C'mon folks, can you really blame him? Can you personally endorse a gun grabbing baby killing RINO?

I know the Hunterites here can't, or at least the lion's share of them.

But then I never thought I would see the day that a gun grabbing baby killer would top the polls at FR. I am so very disappointed in y'all.

Paul is okay Constitutionally, but he has these kook followers sending out racist stuff and all. In print.

I really don’t know if he could or would defend us either.

Do you really think he has a chance at winning?

Been talking for months about Hunter, then Thompson,to my kin,,,now what, you’re right though::

This stinks, but what can anybody do? If too many people do decide not to vote on November 4, then the Democrats and socialism wins at each and every political level throughout the U.S. Conservatives have time between now and November 4 to seriously plan their next moves.
